Blue Hose Record Sweep on Friday at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Behind another double-double for senior Erin Cooke, the Presbyterian College volleyball team earned a four-set victory over The Citadel on Friday night to complete a sweep of the day for the Blue Hose at McAlister Field House. PC swept S.C. State earlier in the afternoon in Charleston.

Notables
Hailey Grocholski led the Blue Hose in the three-set sweep of S.C. State on Friday afternoon with eight kills.
- Rylee Moorehead and Anna Hewitt led the defense with 11 digs apiece. Moorehead added five service aces.
- PC hit .278 in the match including .684 in the opening set.
- Cooke led the offense in the nightcap with 15 kills, 20 assists and eight digs. Cooke totaled her sixth double-double of the season in the victory.
- Hewitt added 24 digs in the victory over The Citadel as well.
- Grocholski added five block assists in the win for PC to lead the defensive attack.
- Kinsey Bailey totaled 16 assists and 13 digs for the double-double.

How it Happened – Match One
- PC got out to an early 8-3 lead in the opening set and the Bulldogs cut it to 11-6 before an 8-0 burst by the Blue Hose gave PC the 19-6 lead they wouldn't relinquish en route to a 25-9 set one win. In the set, PC hit an impressive .684 with 14 kills to lead to the opening set victory.
- Presbyterian opened the set on a 7-1 to force an early S.C. State timeout. After the two teams traded a few points, PC rattled off an 8-0 run as they picked up the set two victory by the count of 25-11.
- The set was tight early as PC hung on to a 4-3 lead after a pair of points from S.C. State. The Bulldogs evened the match up at eight before an 8-1 Blue Hose burst gave them some separation. S.C. State cut it to five, 16-11 but would get it no closer as Presbyterian completed the sweep with a 25-14 set three win for the match.

How it Happened – Match Two
- Citadel raced out to an early 10-5 advantage in the opening set using four aces to get the early lead over the Blue Hose. Coming out of a PC timeout, the Blue Hose used strong blocking to get the match back even at 11 and force a Bulldogs timeout. The Blue Hose created separation with seven late kills to take a 23-18 and went on to take the opening set by the count of 25-20.
- The Blue Hose got out to the early 12-9 lead in the second set with Cooke and Grocholski continuing to lead the offensive attack. The Bulldogs got it to a two point match, but the Blue Hose closed on a 7-2 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match on Friday night.
- The two teams battled tight in the third set before a quick burst from the hosts gave them a 13-9 lead and forced a Blue Hose timeout. The Bulldogs kept the pressure and lead on PC throughout the second set as they earned a 25-14 set three victory to cut the lead to 2-1 in the match for Presbyterian.
- The Blue Hose and Bulldogs were in a tight one early in the fourth set with a 4-4 tie before PC raced out to a 15-9 lead led by Cooke who had four kills early in the set. PC pushed the lead out to seven, 20-13 and forced a timeout from the Bulldogs. The hosts made a late charge and cut the lead to three, 23-20 which forced a PC timeout. Presbyterian closed out the match with back-to-back kills from Cooke to win the match in four sets.
