HOW IT HAPPENED:
The opening 10 minutes was fairly quiet except for a chance for Charleston Southern, but Presbyterian's defense did well to pressure the shot taker to force the shot wide. Morganne Cartee had a chance in the 13th minute, but her left-footed shot was saved as the game remained scoreless in the early going. Kori Lawrence immediately followed that with a shot of her own, but once again the save was made. Megan Serrano made her first save of the match as a shot ticked off of defender Kali Zmistowski, but Serrano stayed strong to her near side to catch the ball. The Blue Hose looked dangerous on the counter-attack, but a couple of offside calls held them back from making an attack as the first half ended, 0-0.

Caitlin Murphy was seen on both sides of the pitch early in the second half as she had a long-distance shot that was saved, and then saved a shot on defense as she blocked it on the goal line. Lawrence was then sprung by Cartee, but she couldn't get enough power on her shot to open the scoring. Charleston Southern had another chance, this time they hit the crossbar, as the second half was off to a rapid start. The Buccaneers would find the opening goal on their next shot as it slipped through the hands of Serrano and barely crossed the line. Murphy attempted to even the scoring, but a jumping save from the Buccaneers' keeper denied her the goal. Serrano bounced back from the goal as she made a pair of diving saves to keep Presbyterian in the match with 30 minutes to play. As Presbyterian looked to get back into the match, Charleston Southern came down the field and added another as they had a 2-0 lead with 11 minutes to go. It was tough for the Blue Hose to come back from two goals down as they couldn't get by the Buccaneers, falling 2-0.

Coach Purcell's Thoughts
- " I'm disappointed in the loss. I thought we had chances that if we converted those, the game could've changed in our favor. These type of results don't make us who we are. We are a fighting team who believe in ourselves and we've seen the improvement throughout the year. We just have to keep working hard."

UP NEXT:
The Blue Hose return home for their third match this week, and the first match of October, as they host High Point on Saturday, October 2 at 7pm.
