Season Begins with Two Matches in Three Days

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian men's tennis team begins their 2022 season with two matches ove  the three day weekend. The Blue Hose begin the season at home against Kennesaw State this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Then, Presbyterian travels to Raleigh, North Carolina to play ACC foe NC State this Monday, January 17 at 4 p.m.
 
Presbyterian is in their second season under the direction of head coach John Collins.

TIME: Monday, January 17, 4 p.m.
LOCATION: J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center (Raleigh, N.C.)
 
2021 RECAP
Last season, Presbyterian captured the Big South Conference Tournament title and earned the program's second NCAA Tournament bid. The Blue Hose finished the season with an 11-7 record with a 7-2 record at home.

RETURNERS
Presbyterian returns eight letterwinners led by seniors Max Benson, who was Big South Player of the Year last season, and Nicholas McKinney, who joined Benson as a first-team All-Big South singles selection. McKinney led the Blue Hose with a 13-1 singles record last year. Sophomore Javier Matos earned second-team honors All-Big South singles honors in 2021. Junior Georgije Babic teamed with Benson to form a first-team All-Big South Conference doubles pairing. Junior Teo Cariov, sophomore Sebastian Dominguez, sophomore Daniel Martens, and senior Vance Mercer round out the Blue Hose returning letterwinners.
 
NEWCOMERS
Joining the Blue Hose roster this season are talented newcomers freshmen Pedro Cardoso, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Dusan Milanovic, from Bijeljina, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
 
SCOUTING KENNESAW STATE
The Owls return seven players from last season's team that finished with a 7-12 record and reached the semifinals of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament.
 
SCOUTING NC STATE
Last year, the Wolfpack finished with an 11-9 record and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
Junior Robin Catry is currently ranked 36th in the ITA National Singles Rankings.
