Four Double-Figure Scorers; Blue Hose Top Highlanders

CLINTON, S.C. – Behind another balanced scoring attack, the Presbyterian College women's basketball team defeated Radford, 74-63 on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Center. Sophomore Maleia Bracone led the Blue Hose with 17 points, while Tionna Carter added 14 points as Jade Compton and Paige Kindseth each added 12 points.

Scoring the Game
- After Radford posted the opening bucket, PC rattled off the next 11 points highlighted by seven from Bracone to take an 11-2 lead with 5:58 to play in the stanza. The Blue Hose had an answer for layups from the Highlanders with a 5-0 burst and 4-0 burst before a three at the buzzer gave PC a 23-8 lead after one.
- PC opened the second quarter on a 7-4 run to push the lead to 30-12 with 6:08 to play in the half. Radford responded to the Blue Hose fast start with a 19-5 run to close the first half and cut PC's advantage to four, 35-31 at the break.
- The Blue Hose began the second half on a 9-4 run to take a 44-35 edge over the Highlanders with 6:19 to play in the quarter. PC pushed it to a 10-point edge at 48-38 before Radford pushed it back down the stretch on the heels of an 11-4 run to make it 52-47 heading to the fourth.
- Radford quickly pushed the game even with a quick 5-0 spurt in the opening minute of the fourth quarter pushing it to 52-52. PC used an 8-2 burst over the next five minutes to push it to 60-54. The Highlanders cut it to four, 62-58 with 3:49 to play but were unable to get it any closer as the Blue Hose closed on a 12-5 run to earn the 74-63 win on Saturday afternoon.

Players of the Game
Maleia Bracone paced the Blue Hose offense for the fourth time this season and the second time in as many games with 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting. Tionna Carter added 14 points, while Paige Kindseth and Jade Compton each added 12 points. Compton led the Blue Hose on the glass with seven rebounds. Nyah Willis and A'Nyah Barker each had a team-high four assists. Bridget Birkhead and Ashley Tudor each had a team-high 15 points for the Highlanders. Danielle Montelbano added 11 points. Birkhead and Rachel LaLonde each had a team-best five rebounds. Montelbano dished out five assists.

Stats of the Game
- Presbyterian posted a 46.7% field goal percentage (28-of-60), while holding the Highlander to 41.7% (25-of-60). Radford made seven threes and the Blue Hose connected on five from beyond the arc. PC was 13-of-20 at the foul line and the guests connected on 6-of-13. PC had a 39-34 edge on the glass. The Blue Hose held a 42-34 edge in points in the paint this afternoon. Both teams had seven steals. PC had a slight edge in assists at 14-11.  



Notables
- The Blue Hose 23 points in the first quarter is the most scored in the opening quarter since PC totaled 25 points in an 82-62 victory over St. Thomas on November 20th.
- Bracone led the way with 17 points which is one point off of her career-high 18 set against USC Upstate last season. She finished the week with 15.5 points per game, 7.0 rebounds per game and 3.0 assists per game over the two wins.
- Freshman Paige Kindseth matched her career-high with 12 points in her second consecutive game. Kindseth was four-of-nine from the field and pulled down five rebounds. She also added a career-high three steals.
- Jade Compton moved into seventh place in the DI record book for rebounds. Compton now has totaled 440 total rebounds in her career at PC.
- PC improved to 5-1 when leading at the half. The Blue Hose are now 6-2 when outrebounding opponents.
- The Blue Hose improved to 6-1 in home games on Saturday afternoon.
