Blue Hose Battle Clemson on Wednesday Afternoon

CLINTON, S.C. – Following a weather postponement on Sunday, the Presbyterian College women's tennis team heads to Clemson on Wednesday afternoon for a 3 p.m. serve with the Tigers from Duckworth Family Tennis Center.

"We are looking forward to getting back to competing on Wednesday afternoon. We have had a couple of good days of training and looking for a good bounce back against a good Clemson team."

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- Clemson opens the spring season on Wednesday afternoon hosting the Blue Hose after the Tigers doubleheader was postponed on Sunday due to inclement weather.
- The Tigers finished the 2021 season with a 9-15 record including three wins in the ACC.
- Clemson is led by second-year head coach Christy Lynch who returns seven players and welcomes three newcomers and two via transfer to the Tiger program.
-  Clemson has a pair of players in the ITA singles rankings as Cristina Mayorova ranked 70th in the latest ITA ranks and Ali DeSpain checks in at 84.
 
PRESEASON POLL
- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team was selected fourth by the league's coaches in the Big South Preseason Poll, as was announced earlier this week.
- The fourth-place selection marks the highest ever preseason ranking the Blue Hose have earned in their time in the Big South surpassing the fifth-place selection during the 2019 preseason.
- Charleston Southern received eight first-place votes and 80 total points as the Buccaneers were tabbed to win the league. Radford earned a first-place vote and earned 62 points. Campbell totaled 57 points and finished in third place with PC earning 56 points and finishing in fourth in the preseason poll. UNC Asheville was selected fifth with 49 points, while Gardner-Webb slid in sixth place with 47 points. Longwood was chosen seventh in the preseason poll with 27 points, with N.C. A&T (15 points) in eighth and Hampton rounded out the field with 12 points in ninth place.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped its season-opening match on Saturday morning as the visiting Kennesaw State earned a 7-0 victory at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
- Freshman Claudia Sanchez made her collegiate debut on Saturday playing at No. 2 doubles and No.3 singles.

UP NEXT
- Following Wednesday's match at Clemson, the Blue Hose return home on Friday at 1 p.m. to host Lander at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
