Piedra Tallies Win in Setback at Clemson

Clemson, S.C.. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team endured a 6-1 setback at the hands of Clemson on Wednesday afternoon at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. Sophomore Lucianna Piedra got the Blue Hose on the board with a three-set victory on Wednesday.

"Tough match today but the team fought hard. We definitely took a step in the right direction and we will continue to be better. Looking forward to a couple days of training and then being back at home against lander." commented head coach Joel Roberts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Clemson got on the board first with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles before a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles secured the doubles point for the Tigers.
- The Tigers led 4-1 in the No. 1 doubles match before it was called as the hosts had already clinched the doubles point.
- The hosts extended the lead to 2-0 with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles.
- Clemson pushed the advantage out to 3-0 with a two-set win at No. 4 singles. The Tigers clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles to pick up the win on Wednesday afternoon.
- The Tigers pushed it to 5-0 with the victory at No. 3 singles before a straight-set win at No. 6 singles.
- PC got on the board with sophomore Luciana Piedra earning a second set win before earning a 10-8 third-set tiebreak victory to get the Blue Hose on the board.
 

UP NEXT
- The Blue Hose match slated for Friday at 1 p.m. against Lander has been moved to Monday at the same time from Clinton because of expected inclement weather on Friday.
