CLINTON, S.C. – Sophomore Rylee Moorhead led the Presbyterian College volleyball team with 15 kills on Saturday but the Blue Hose suffered a 3-1 setback (25-22, 18-25, 16-25, 13-25) against Charleston Southern at the Templeton Center. Moorhead tallied 15 kills along with eight digs and three blocks in the defeat.

How it Happened
- Presbyterian opened the match with four of the first six points to get the early advantage over Charleston Southern. CSU and PC traded points before the Bucs rattled off five of the next six points to take a 12-9 lead in the opening set. PC went on an 8-4 burst to take a 17-16 lead as the Bucs called their first timeout. The two teams traded points before the teams traded 3-0 bursts with the latter leading to a Blue Hose set one win 25-22.
- Charleston Southern responded in a big way to begin set two with a 10-2 run to open the set. PC was able to cut it to six, 13-7 before a 5-1 run gave the Bucs the 18-8 advantage. PC cut the deficit to 22-14 which led to a Bucs timeout. The hosts got it to 23-18 before back-to-back points gave CSU the set 25-18.
- Both teams traded spurts in the early going of the third set with CSU going on a 5-2 run midway thru the set to give the guests an 11-10 lead and force PC to take a timeout. PC quickly tied the set up at 12 before a 5-2 run allowed the Bucs to take the 17-14 lead and lead PC to take another timeout. CSU kept its foot on the gas down the stretch with an 8-2 burst to take the third set 25-16 and lead 2-1 in the match.
- Charleston Southern raced out to a 6-0 lead in the fourth set leading to an early timeout from the Blue Hose. PC was able to cut the deficit to four, 10-6 before a 7-2 burst from the Bucs pushed it back to a 17-8 lead late in set four. The teams traded quick three points runs before the Bucs took the set and the match with a 25-13 win in the fourth set.
Notables
- Moorhead led the offense with 15 kills on Saturday which marks her ninth match to eclipse the 10+ kill plateau in 2022. It's her fifth time in Big South action to reach double-digit kills.
- The Anderson, S.C. native added eight digs and three blocks to her stat line.
- Kasey Battle added nine kills as she's totaled 73 kills in her eight league matches which is second on the team.
- Freshman Anna Baranski filled the stat sheet with team-high 27 assists. Baranski also added six digs and five kills.
- Anna Hewitt led the Blue Hose with 14 digs as she also added a team-high three aces and three helpers.
- Hailey Grocholski totaled five kills and a team-high four blocks.
