Blue Hose Travel to Newberry for Wednesday Dual

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team continues it's fall slate on Wednesday afternoon with a trip to Newberry for a 2 p.m. dual against the Wolves.

MATCHDAY CENTRAL
MATCHUP: Presbyterian (0-0) at Newberry (1-0)
TIME: Wednesday October 19, 2 p.m.
LOCATION: Oakland Tennis Center (Newberry, S.C.)

SCOUTING THE WOLVES
- Newberry is 1-0 on the season with a 5-2 dual win over Mount Olive last week. The Wolves battle Emmanuel College on Tuesday before welcoming in PC on Wednesday afternoon.
- The Wolves earned five straight set singles wins en route to their 5-2 win on Oct. 8 against the Trojans.
- The Blue Hose have taken five of the six all-time meeting from the Wolves with the last one occurring in 2018 when PC defeated Newberry 6-1 in Clinton. Wednesday's match will serve as the first meeting between the two school's in Newberry.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Presbyterian College women's tennis team concluded play at the ITA Regionals led by Lucianna Piedra and Valentina De Sousa who each tallied four singles wins over the entire event.
- Piedra earned victories throughout the event against UNCW, Queens and Davidson. De Sousa defeated Elon, Western Carolina, Charlotte and Charleston Southern.
- In doubles action, Piedra and Claudia Sanchez earned a pair of wins against Appalachian State and NC Central.

NEWCOMERS
- Presbyterian returns four players from last season's team while adding a pair of new faces to the squad for the 2022-23 season.
- Fourth year head coach Joel Roberts welcomes back junior Lucianna Piedra (Mexico City, Mexico), sophomore Madison Dennett (Palm City, Fla.), Valentina De Sousa (Caracus, Venezuela) and Claudia Sanchez (Betera, Valencia, Spain).
- Roberts also welcomes McKenzie Davis (Florence, S.C.) and Claire Giddings (Milton, Ga.) as the two freshman to the roster for the 22-23 season.

FALL SLATE
- The fall slate wraps up on October 29th with a trip to Cullowhee to the Western Carolina Invitational.
