DeLAND, Fla. – After 10 straight weeks of action before a November BYE marked the first week without the Blue Hose, the Presbyterian College football team returns to the field this Saturday for one final stand in the 2022 campaign, meeting old-time foe Stetson in the Sunshine State at 1:00 p.m. Kickoff in DeLand is set for an ESPN+ broadcast as PC hopes to end
Steve Englehart's debut year in Clinton on a high note and grab a road victory.
One of Presbyterian's oldest opponents – having first tangled with the Hatters all the way back in 1938 – the Blue Hose were regular challengers to Stetson until the latter's discontinuation in 1956. After 56 years away from the field, the program was brought back to life by current head coach Brian Young, finding themselves in the Pioneer Football League where they have returned to their old habits of facing PC each year. The two sides are 1-1 since becoming conference foes in a new setting, building things up for the rubber match tomorrow afternoon at Spec Martin Memorial Stadium.
Holding an all-time record of 9-1-2 over their southern counterparts, Presbyterian will look to atone for the one blemish against the Hatters in their 84-year history that occurred last year, a 56-14 Stetson victory at Bailey Memorial.

Kibby Becomes National Freshman of the Week
• Immediately becoming one of the most prolific receiving weapons in all of the PFL, and doing so in the midst of his debut season donning the blue and white nonetheless, freshman wideout
Dominic Kibby has turned in a phenomenal first year under head coach
Steve Englehart, gaining the attention of those outside the league two weeks ago by being named the FCS National Freshman of the Week.
• Erupting for a 212-yard afternoon against Dayton, which included a trio of touchdowns all from 31 yards or greater, Kibby produced an average of 30 yards per grab on seven receptions in the back-and-forth loss.
• The highest number of yardage gathered by a Blue Hose position player this year, Kibby's third outing of 100+ yards became the most by a PC true freshman in the team's 15-year history of NCAA Division I inclusion, only three yards away from marking the second-highest Presbyterian receiving output since 2007.
• Just 27 yards shy of teammate
Jalen Jones' record-setting, 239-yard explosion at Valparaiso last fall, Kibby joins eight former members of the program to have racked up three scores against one opponent in PC's D-I history, racing to a 75-yard score on the first offensive snap from scrimmage, a 63-yard TD with seconds left until the first half horn, and another burst from 31 yards away with just over 13 minutes remaining in the league contest.
• Now with 10 starting roles to his rookie campaign, the Catonsville, Md. native has tallied 34 catches for a total of 692 yards, finding the end zone six times. He leads all Blue Hose offensive players with 831 all-purpose yards, possessing a very bright future among a roster filled with booming potential.
Opponent Profile
• Describing the 2022 Stetson season as "topsy-turvy" would be an appropriate summation of the Hatters' journey under 10th-year head coach Brian Young, the man who helped resurrect the program in 2012 after a 56-year absence from competition. Although the Hatters don't seem incredibly intimidating on the surface with a conference record of only 1-5, the PFL's Sunshine State representative has been hit with a few doses of bad luck, falling in three separate conference games by eight points or less (including a double-overtime shootout at 3rd-place Davidson two weeks ago).
• The same Stetson team that scored a combined 79 points in losses to the Wildcats and Marist was also blanked by St. Thomas in their last meeting on Nov. 12, falling victim to their first shutout since September '21 against the current league leader in Minnesota.
• Posting perhaps the most impressive statline by a PFL quarterback in any game this fall in the loss to Davidson, Stetson signal caller Brady Meitz tossed six touchdowns for 379 yards and zero interceptions during a game that totaled 104 points for a near-upset. Seven days later, however, the Hatters' offense ran into a UST buzzsaw that limited Meitz and the Stetson offense to just 113 yards in a 23-0 decision. Meitz never completed a single pass longer than 10 yards, going for a season-low 75 yards through the air in the process.
Last Time Out
• Showing the group's Bailey Memorial power with another fast start on the offensive side of the ball, the Blue Hose ultimately couldn't keep pace with the Dayton Flyers in what was the team's 10th consecutive Saturday of being on the field, coming up short by a 52-28 clip against a team that still sits in contention for the conference's automatic bid to the FCS Playoffs.
• Landing a season-high 364 passing yards from the tandem of
Nate Hayden and
Tyler Wesley - largely due to the magnificent afternoon from Kibby - PC was unfortunately unable to mirror that figure in the rushing attack against one of the most stout defensive fronts in all of FCS. The Blue Hose were able to produce one score in each frame during the seesaw battle, the aforementioned three TD's by Kibby and a 76-yard interception return by sophomore corner A.J. Seay, the first defensive touchdown of 2022 for the blue and white.
Around the PFL
• St. Thomas, in its second season as a Division I program, clinched at least a share of the 2022 PFL Championship with its shutout victory against Stetson last Saturday. They become the ninth different program to win a PFL title in the league's 30 seasons. However, as a reclassifying institution – moving from Division III to Division I – the Tommies remain ineligible for the FCS Playoffs due to NCAA rules.
• With St. Thomas ineligible for the league's automatic qualifying spot, the bid is up for grabs. The league's automatic bid will be awarded to the winner of the Dayton-Davidson game this weekend. Dayton would win the automatic bid outright with a victory and would have a chance to claim a share of the PFL title. Davidson would claim the automatic bid with victory by virtue of the league's tiebreaker – either in a head-to-head tie with Dayton or in a three-way tie that includes Dayton and Butler.
• The 2022 Pioneer Football League awards will be announced Nov. 28-30. The 2022 PFL Major Award winners will be released Monday, Nov. 28, followed the next day by its 30th All-PFL Teams. The league's 30th Academic All-PFL team and its Scholar-Athlete of the Year will be announced Wednesday, Nov. 30.
