Sharpe Slings His Way to PFL Offensive Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Captaining the Presbyterian College football team to a season-opening victory over UVA Wise in his first career start, sophomore quarterback Landon Sharpe has been selected as the Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week.

Sharpe became the first Blue Hose QB since 2021 to complete 30 passes in one contest, finding seven different receivers for 367 passing yards and three touchdowns. He added 88 more yards and an extra TD on the ground as well.

His 455 yards of total offense were the most of any victorious quarterback in the PFL of the 10 teams that competed in Week Zero. He was responsible for nine plays that exceeded 20 yards.

Presbyterian's win over the Cavaliers was their ninth in a row at Bailey Memorial Stadium, just one away from matching the program's all-time longest home winning streak. They'll return to the field next weekend for another non-conference battle at #17 Mercer.

Sharpe POTW

SHARPE DRESSED MAN

- In the collegiate head coaching debut of Matt Rahl, Sharpe took the keys for an offense that crept up on 600 total yards. The Scotsmen scored 30 of their 47 points in the second half, ending with their most points on opening day in five years.

- A native of nearby Lexington, South Carolina, Sharpe's longest completion was a 57-yarder to freshman Anton Smith. His three touchdown passes all occurred in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

- His first TD toss of the new season came just 12 seconds after halftime, a perfectly-orchestrated 17-yarder to Jalen Patrick which put PC ahead by eight.

- Only three minutes later, he threw a second touchdown to Jackson Burleson on a wheel route. He carried to the end zone himself late in the 3rd, before throwing his final TD of the night in the last frame to Caleb Johnson from 16 yards away.

- Presbyterian produced either a touchdown or a field goal in five of their seven second-half drives. Four of those five scoring series took two minutes or less.

P.O.T.W. HISTORY

- Since the Blue Hose joined the PFL five years ago, they have acquired 15 "Player of the Week" accolades. Sharpe becomes the fifth different PC athlete to be voted the league's Offensive Player of the Week.

- Presby has housed a PFL Offensive Player of the Week in three consecutive seasons, following on from previous quarterback Collin Hurst who garnered the award in 2025 and 2024.

- PC has wrangled in at least three Pioneer League weekly awards in each of the last three seasons. They have now manufactured seven of these accolades since Rahl joined the Blue Hose staff in 2024 as the offensive line coach.
