SAN DIEGO, CA – Presbyterian Blue Hose men's tennis players
Dusan Milanovic and
Max Benson enjoyed some success at the ITA Fall National Championships last week at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
In singles play, Milanovic defeated Southern Cal's Peter Makk, who is ranked No. 41 in the ITA National Singles rankings, 7-5, 6-3. In the round of 16, Milanovic battled Ohio State JJ Tracy, who is ranked No. 8, before falling in three hard-fought sets, 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (2-7), 6-4.
In doubles action, Milanovic and Benson lost in the main draw 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) to Virginia Tech's Ryan Fishback and Alberto Orso. Then, the doubles tandem reached the consolation draw finals with victories over doubles teams from Georgia, Old Dominion, and Louisville before falling to the No. 5 ranked doubles team from Oregon in the consolation draw finals. The doubles team from Georgia is ranked 18th and Louisville's doubles team is ranked 48
th.
This fall, Milanovic has beaten four ranked singles players with wins over the No. 41, No. 70, No. 96, and No. 107 ranked players. The doubles team of Benson and Milanovic collected wins over two top 50 ranked doubles teams in the ITA National Fall Championships.
