CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following a record-breaking close to non-conference play, the Presbyterian College women's basketball team received a pair of Big South weekly awards from the conference on Tuesday afternoon. Fifth-year senior Bryanna Brady earned Player of the Week honors, while Freshman Tilda Sjökvist earned her third weekly honor from the league in the past four weeks.
The Blue Hose set a program DI record and a Big South record on Tuesday with 132 points scored, led by Brady with a career-high 25 points in the victory over Bluefield.
The Goodyear, Ariz. native also tallied a career-high 11 field goals and connected on her first collegiate three in the contest. Brady filled the stat sheet in the victory with seven rebounds and two assists. She tallied 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting with four rebounds in just 12 minutes in the opening half of the matchup with the Rams last week.
Brady enters league play on Thursday sitting in the top spot in field goal percentage (54.8), tied for fourth in blocks (1.2), tied for fourth in offensive rebounds (28), fifth in the league in points (12.4), and eighth in rebounds (6.1).
She became the first Blue Hose since March 4, 2021, to earn league Player of the Week honoree when Tionna Carter earned the award.
Sjökvist recorded her first career double-double in the victory over Bluefield with 21 points and 10 assists while connecting on 9-of-13 field goals as she made three triples in the contest. The Huskvarna, Sweden native set career highs with points, field goals, and assists while matching a career-high in threes.
The Blue Hose guard led the way with her 10 assists as they tallied 38 assists which set a program DI record along with a Big South record in the 132-30 victory last week.
Sjökvist begins conference action second in assists per game (3.8), second in assists (42), and tied for seventh in threes (15).
Sjökvist is the first Blue Hose to receive three Freshman of the Week honors since Mariah Pietrowski won four awards during the 2009-10 season.
The Blue Hose hit the road on Thursday night to begin conference play with a 5 p.m. tip against Campbell before returning home on Saturday for a 2 p.m. New Year's Eve tip against Radford.
