Behind four double-figure scorers and a balanced offensive attack, the Presbyterian Blue Hose defeated the Campbell Camels, 82-72, in their Big South Conference opener at the Templeton Center on December 29.
 
Crosby James scored 23 points while connecting on four three-point field goals. Jalen Forrest scored 16 points off the bench. Owen McCormack scored 14 points. Marquis Barnett collected his first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.

BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
James, who has scored in double-figures seven times, leads the Blue Hose in scoring, averaging 10.8 points per game. James has knocked down a team-leading 21 three-point field goals this season. Forrest, who has connected on 14 straight free throws, averages ten points per game. Barnett averages 9.4 points per game and a team-leading 6.0 rebounds per game. Ard is second on the team in rebounding averaging 5.1 boards per game. Ard averages 6.2 points per game. Trevon Reddish-Rhone averages 7.1 points while dishing out a team-leading 2.6 assists per game. McCormack averages 8.0 points while connecting on 18 three-point field goals this season.
  
 
NOTES
WINNING BIG SOUTH OPENER - Presbyterian's 82-72 win over Campbell (December 29) marked the first time since the 2019-20 season that the Blue Hose have won their Big South Opener. The last time PC began league play with a win was a 79-77 win over UNC Asheville on January 2, 2020. The Big South season opening win over Campbell marked the fourth time in the program's history that the Blue Hose won their Big South opener.
 
BENCH POINTS - Presbyterian behind the double-figure scoring performances from Jalen Forrest, Houston Jones, Quadir Pettaway and Kobe Stewart off the bench in the win over Allen (December 19, 2022), the Blue Hose scored a season-high 58 bench points. This marked the most bench points scored by the Blue Hose since tallying 67 bench points in a home win over UNC Asheville on March 5, 2019. In the 2018-19 season, the Blue Hose recorded four games with at least 51 bench points.
This season, Presbyterian has had 13 double-figure scoring games off the bench.
 
DOUBLE-FIGURE TREYS - The Blue Hose connected on a season-high 11 three-point field goals in the win over Elon on December 15. Presbyterian's 11 three-point field goals made is the most threes made by the Blue Hose since connecting on 11 threes in a win over Truett-McConnell on December 30, 2021.
 
OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS - This season, Presbyterian averages 11.50 offensive boards per game. The Blue Hose have recorded nine double-figure offensive rebounds games (Carolina University - November 7, at The Citadel - November 10, at East Carolina - November 12, at UAB, November 16, vs. Bucknell - November 21, VMI - November 29, Elon - December 15, Allen - December 19 and Campbell - December 29). The Blue Hose grabbed a season-high 18 offensive boards against Carolina University.

BIG SOUTH FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK – On November 28, Forrest was named Big South Conference Freshman of the Week this week. Forrest was the ninth player in the program's history to garner Big South Freshman of the Week honors.
 
SAME STARTING FIVE - Presbyterian has used the same starting lineup in each of its first 14 games. Guards Barnett, James, Reddish-Rhone, and forwards Ard, Jr., and McCormack have been the Blue Hose's starting lineup in every game this season.
 
DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORERS – Ten Presbyterian players have recorded at least one double-figure scoring game this season. Trevon Reddish-Rhone, Owen McCormack, Crosby James, Jalen Forrest, Marquis Barnett, Winston Hill, Terrell Ard, Jr., Houston Jones, Quadir Pettaway and Kobe Stewart have all tallied at least one double-figure scoring game this season.
 
COACH FERRELL - Quinton Ferrell is in his fourth season as the head coach of his alma mater, Presbyterian College. Ferrell, a former Blue Hose team captain and a 2007 PC graduate, is one of 52 coaches in the NCAA Division I ranks that are coaching their alma maters.
 
PRESBYTERIAN- RADFORD SERIES
Saturday's game marks the 29th meeting between Presbyterian and Radford, who leads the all-time series 19-9. Radford has won 10 of the 13 previous meetings between the two teams at Radford. However, the Blue Hose defeated Radford, 78-70, on the road in their last meeting on February 5, 2022. Barnett and Reddish-Rhone each scored 15 points in the win. McCormack scored 10 points. Presbyterian's defense forced the Highlanders into 14 turnovers which led to 28 points off those turnovers.
 
SCOUTING RADFORD
The Highlanders have wins over Bridgewater, Averett, Army, Elon, North Carolina Central, and George Washington. Radford enters the game on a five-game losing streak, with all five of the games on the road. Freshman guard Kenyon Giles, who has claimed four Big South Freshman of the Week awards this season, leads the Highlanders in scoring averaging 12.4 points per game. Redshirt junior guard DaQuan Smith is second on the team averaging 11.4 points per game. Senior forward Shaquan Jules leads Radford in rebounding averaging 6.6 boards per game. Radford averages 72.9 points per game while their opponents have averaged 66.5 points per game.
