Blue Hose Head to Gainesville on Tuesday Night

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team makes the first of two trips to the sunshine state on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. matchup against Florida from Exactech Arena in Gainesville. The matchup with the Gators will be shown on SEC Network Plus on Tuesday night.

Opening Tip
- The Blue Hose make their first of two treks down to the Sunshine State as PC gets set to face Florida out of the SEC on Tuesday night in Gainesville to battle the Gators. PC makes another trek to Florida on December 15th to battle Florida State. PC looks to get back in the win column on Tuesday after suffering a 71-56 defeat at the hands of Jacksonville.
 
Scouting the Gators
-  Florida enters the game Tuesday with an 8-1 record following a tight four-point win over Dayton on Sunday afternoon. The Gators have won each of their last six contests with their lone defeat coming to the hands of Florida State on November 16th. The Gators are led offensively by Leilani Correa who's averaging 16.2 points/game shooting 48.6% from the floor. Nina Rickards averages 13.6 ppg and Kirsten Deans sits with 12.3 points per contest. Rickards leads the Gators on the glass averaging 6.9 per contest. Deans has dished out a team-high 32 assists and recorded a team-best 20 steals.
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks
- Mara Neira sits fifth in the league with 13.25 points per game while Bryanna Brady ranks seventh in the conference with 12.6 points/game... Brady is seventh in the Big South with 6.5 rebounds per contest... Brady and Neira sit first and second in the league in field goal percentage as Brady is shooting 51.9% thus far while Neira sits at 41%... Sjökvist ranks fourth in the conference with 3.4 assists/game... Brady is second in the league with 1.5 blocks/game...
 
PC Continues the Sunshine State Tour
- PC continues it's three straight against teams from Florida. The Blue Hose hit the road on Tuesday for a visit to Gainesville to battle Florida out of the SEC. The Florida tour wraps up for the Blue & Garnet on Dec. 15 with a return trip down south to battle Florida State out of the ACC.
 
Head-to-Head vs the Gators
- PC and Florida will meet on Tuesday for the second time in the Blue Hose DI era as the first meeting occurred during the 2019 season the Gators earned the 60-46 victory over the Blue Hose.
 
Second Quarter Dominance
- PC has controlled the scoreboard in the second quarter throughout the opening eight games of the season as the Blue Hose have outscored their opponents 126-93 in the quarter. PC has been led by Mara Neira who's tallied 29 points in the second highlighted by 12 at Minnesota. Bryanna Brady has added 26 in the quarter while Tilda Sjökvist has posted 19 in the quarter. Christina Kline has tallied 12 after five points the second on Wednesday at UNCG. On the defensive end, PC held Furman to just three points and Western Carolina to five points in the second quarter of its respective games with those two SoCon foes.

On Tap
- PC is scheduled to play 29 contests under the direction of fifth year head coach Alaura Sharp during the 2022-23 season including 18 league games which begin on December 29th at Campbell. The Blue Hose are slated to make trips to St. Thomas, Minnesota, Morehead State, UNCG, Florida and Florida State in non-conference play while welcoming Carolina University, Furman, WCU, Jacksonville and Bluefield to Clinton. Presbyterian will play nine home-homes with the league in 2022 beginning with Campbell on Dec. 29.

New Faces Enter the Equation
- The Blue Hose enter the 2022-23 season with a lot of fresh faces in 2022 as 11 new players join the squad. The Blue Hose freshman class includes guards Aubrie Kierscht (Salina, Kan.) , Ashley Carrillo (Liberal, Kan.) , Tilda Sjökvist  (Huskvarna, Sweden) , Natalie Herrin (Patterson, Ga.) and forward Dennaye Hinds (Bridgeport, Conn.). In addition to the five freshman, PC also added a host of upperclassmen in 2022 to round out the roster. Coach Sharp welcomes Christina Kline (La Salle), Mara Neira (Eastern Wyoming), Sonia Sato (McCook CC), Dagne Apsite (UTEP), Núria Cunill (Eastern Washington) and Laila Grant (Vincennes).
