Hot Shooting Aggies Down Blue Hose on Thursday

Greensboro, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team could not overcome a hot shooting night from the host N.C. A&T on Thursday as the Aggies picked up the 80-52 victory from the Corbett Sports Center. The Blue Hose were led by Maleia Bracone with 10 points in Thursday's setback.

Scoring the Game
- The hosts started red-hot in the opening quarter with a 13-2 run over the first three and a half minutes to get out to the early 11-point edge. Behind Compton, Willis, and Kindseth, the Blue Hose cut the Aggies lead down to 17-9 with 2:46 to play in the opening quarter. PC cut it to five with a 7-4 burst over two minutes to make it a 21-15 N.C. A&T lead before a late free throw made it 22-15 after one. 
- Behind early baskets in the quarter from Bracone and Kindseth, the Blue Hose cut the Aggies lead to six, 26-20 with 8:09 to play in the stanza. N.C. A&T used a 13-0 run over the next four minutes to extend the lead to 19, 39-20 with 3:21 to play in the half. The Blue Hose got threes late in the half from Jo Raflo and Bracone but the hosts were able to keep the lead at 18, 44-26 after 20 minutes. 
- Both teams battled over the first five minutes of the second half as the hosts were able to push the lead to 22, 57-35 with 4:20 to play in the third quarter. The Aggies kept the Blue Hose at distance throughout the third quarter pushing to 24, 64-40 after 30 minutes on Thursday. 
- The fourth quarter was similar to the third with N.C. A&T continued to answer the Blue Hose baskets as the hosts used a 10-4 run down the stretch to push it to an 80-52 final in Greensboro on Thursday night. 

Players of the Game
- PC was led for a second consecutive game by sophomore Maleia Bracone who had 10 points on four-of-nine shooting including a pair of threes. Tionna Carter led the Blue Hose on the glass with six rebounds. Nyah Willis had a team-best three assists. Jazmin Harris led the Aggies with 23 points as Chanin Scott chipped in with 15 points. Shareka McNeill added 12 points, while Sean Kelly Darks had 11 and D'mya Tucker rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 off the bench. Three Aggies had a team-high seven rebounds. McNeill dished out a team-best six helpers. 

Stats of the Game
- N.C. A&T was 32-of-63 (50.8%) from the field as the Aggies limited the Blue Hose to 21-of-55 from the floor (38.2%). The hosts made five threes as PC connected on four from beyond the arc. The Aggies were 11-of-12 at the foul line as PC made six-of-10 from the stripe. N.C. A&T led the rebounding battle 39-29. A&T had 24 assists compared to just 11 by Presbyterian. The hosts led fast-break points 20-0 and held a 36-22 lead in points in the paint. 

Notables
- Bracone totaled her 13th double-figure scoring game of the season with her team-high 10 on Thursday night. 
- Thursday's game was the first time that PC and N.C. A&T has faced off in the Blue Hose DI era.
- Jade Compton moved to a tie for seventh in the single-season DI record book for field goals made with 128 on the year. 
- Compton also moved to tie for 11th in points in a season with 332 on the campaign for the Garland, Texas native. 

Up Next
- The same two teams will meet on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Clinton as senior day will take for the Blue Hose following the contest with the Aggies.
