Presbyterian Takes Weekend Road Trip to North Carolina

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian Blue Hose men's tennis team makes a trip to the state of North Carolina this weekend with matches at No. 22 NC State and Davidson, February 12-13.

MATCHUP:  Presbyterian (2-5) at No. 22 NC State (4-2)
TIME: Saturday, February 12 at 11 a.m.
LOCATION: Raleigh, N.C. (J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center)

MATCHUP: Presbyterian (2-5) at Davidson (1-2)
TIME: Sunday, February 13 at 1 p.m.
LOCATION: Davidson, N.C. (Knobloch Tennis Center)


LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose lost in a tightly contested match, 4-3, at Furman on Wednesday. Sebastian Dominguez, Max Benson, and Javier Matos posted singles wins.

NATIONALLY-RANKED
Presbyterian's top doubles tandem of Benson and Dusan Milanovic entered the ITA doubles rankings at No. 47 this week. They have recorded three wins this season including a 6-3 win over the ninth-ranked doubles team in the nation, Charlotte's Coy Simon and Stefanos Savva.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY HONORS
Last week, Georgije Babic captured Big South Conference Player of the Week honors after his performance in Presbyterian's road matches at Emmanuel (January 28) and Charlotte (January 30). Three weeks ago, the Blue Hose swept the Big South Conference men's tennis weekly awards (January 19) after their performance in the season-opening win over Kennesaw State on January 15. Dominguez was named Big South Conference Player of the Week. While Milanovic claimed the league's Freshman of the Week award.
 
SCOUTING NC STATE WOLFPACKS
The Wolfpack have recorded wins over two Top 25 teams in UCF and Illinois as well as Princeton and Campbell. NC State is led in singles by two nationally-ranked players: Robin Catry, who is ranked 31st, and Martins Rocens, who is ranked 125th. The doubles tandem of Yannai Barkai and Colin Shick are ranked 29th in the ITA doubles rankings.
 
NC State defeated Presbyterian, 6-1, in their previous match, March 16, 2021. Benson recorded a three-set win at number one singles.
 
SCOUTING DAVIDSON WILDCATS
Davidson defeated Gardner-Webb in their first home match this season on January 23. Alejandro Solares leads the Wildcats with two singles wins.
 
The Blue Hose defeated the Wildcats, 5-2, in their last match which came at Presbyterian's Templeton Tennis Courts on March 20, 2021. Presbyterian won the doubles point. Benson, McKinney, Teo Cariov, and former Blue Hose stalwart Alberto Conde posted singles wins.
