Blue Hose Fall Late at Coastal Carolina

Conway, S.C.. –  The Presbyterian College women's tennis was unable to rally late as the host Coastal Carolina earned the 4-3 victory on Friday afternoon at the Stevens Tennis Complex.

"It was a tough battle today. The team played well but Coastal Carolina played a little tougher in the big moments. We will continue to work on this but I can't wait for a quick turnaround against Western Carolina Sunday back at home."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Coastal Carolina took early control in the doubles matches on Friday with a 6-2 win at No.3 before a 6-4 victory at No. 2 clinched the hosts the first point of the match.
- CCU added a 6-4 result at No. 1 doubles as well after they had clinched the point on Friday afternoon.
- The Blue Hose got on the board with a convincing 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles by Beth Lacey to even the match at one apiece.
- The hosts pushed the lead to 2-1 with a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles.
- The reigning freshman of the week Claudia Sanchez continued her strong start to the spring season with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles to even the match at two.
- CCU answered with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the top spot to push the lead back to 3-2 before clinching the match with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at No.2 singles.
- Sophomore Lucianna Piedra battled for a three-set win in her singles match to make it a 4-3 final for the host Chanticeleers on Friday afternoon.  
 
NOTES
- Sanchez and Lacey improved to 4-2 overall in singles with her victory in straight sets.

UP NEXT
- The Blue Hose return home on Sunday at 1 p.m. as they host Western Carolina at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
