Clinton, S.C. – Fifth-year senior Jade Compton led the Blue Hose with 23 points but USC Upstate defeated the Presbyterian College women's basketball team 80-67 on Wednesday night from the Templeton Center. Nyah Willis added 18 and Tionna Carter had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Scoring the Game
- Both teams went back and forth in the opening five minutes with a 9-9 score with 5:35 to play in the opening quarter. Over the next 90 seconds, Upstate answered with an 8-2 run to take a 17-11 advantage. After a Tionna Carter layup, the guests closed the quarter on a 9-4 burst to take a 26-17 lead to the second quarter.
- The Spartans used an 8-4 spurt over the first four minutes of the second quarter to take a 34-21 lead. PC answered with an 8-0 burst over the next two and a half minutes to cut the deficit to 34-29. The guests quickly responded with a 6-0 run to push it back to an 11-point lead at 40-29. The Spartans kept it at a nine-point lead at the break by the score of 43-34.
- The Blue Hose cut it to eight, 49-41 early in the third quarter with seven unanswered from Willis on the PC side. USC Upstate quickly answered with a 6-0 burst to push it back to 55-41 with 5:39 to play in the quarter. A 7-0 burst from the Blue Hose cut it to a seven-point game at 55-48 with 2:08 to play. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch as Upstate took the 60-51 lead to the fourth.
- PC began the fourth on a 6-3 run to cut the Spartans lead to 63-57 with 5:59 to play in regulation. Upstate used a 10-3 burst over the next three minutes to push the lead to 13, 73-60 with just 2:36 to play. PC pushed back one more time with a 7-3 burst but would be unable to get any closer as the Spartans held on for the 80-67 victory on Wednesday night.

- Jade Compton led the Blue Hose offense with 23 points as Nyah Willis added 18 points. Tionna Carter picked up her second double-double of Big South play with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Maleia Bracone had a team-high three assists. Rachael Rose recorded a team-high 29 points as Chellia Watson added 16. Terah Harness totaled 13 and Molly Coleman rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10. Harness and Watson each had four rebounds. Rose dished out a team-best six helpers.

- USC Upstate went 29-of-58 (50%) from the floor as the Blue Hose posted a 22-of-46 (47.8%) performance from the field. The Spartans connected on eight threes as the Blue Hose made five. Both teams were effective at the charity stripe as Upstate was 14-of-17 and Presbyterian made 18-of-22. PC outrebounded USC Upstate by the count of 30-23. USC Upstate forced 17 turnovers and scored 25 points off of those turnovers. The Blue Hose bench outscored the Spartans 41-6. USC Upstate had a slight edge in the paint at 36-32.

- Compton recorded her seventh 20-point game of the season and the 12th of her Blue Hose career on Wednesday with a team-high 23.
- Compton also moved into 10th in the DI career record book with 82 three in her time with the Blue Hose.
- With her three blocks, Tionna Carter moved into third place in the Blue Hose DI career record book with 62 blocks in her time at Presbyterian.
- The three blocks for Carter also match a career-high she's had on three prior occasions.
- Carter tied a season-high with five offensive rebounds.
- Junior Nyah Willis had a season-high 18 points off of the bench for PC. She also tied her career-high making 11 free throws in the contest.
- Willis was 11-for-11 on Wednesday as that's the first time in program history anyone has made 11+ free throws without a miss.
- Carter with her second double-double of the season gives the Blue Hose nine overall led by Compton with four.
