Late Offense Pushes North Florida Past PC

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – North Florida scored four in the seventh and tacked on one in the eighth to earn the 8-5 victory on Saturday over the Presbyterian College baseball team at Harmon Stadium. Chase Hughes connected on his second homer in as many games and Chris Veach had a pair of runs knocked in as well.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Chase Hughes connected on his second home run of the season in the second to give the Blue Hose the 2-0 lead.
- Kyle Decker pushed it to 3-0 with a fielder's choice before a Chris Veach two-run single gave Presbyterian the 5-0 lead after 1.5 innings.
- North Florida pushed across two in the third to cut the deficit to 5-2 after three frames.
- UNF added a run in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-3 after five innings.
- The Ospreys pushed ahead for the first time on Saturday in the seventh with a four-run seventh to take a 7-5 lead on PC.
- The hosts added a run in the eighth and held on in the ninth for the 8-5 victory to even the series up at a game apiece.
 
NOTABLES
- Chase Hughes connected on his second home run in as many games in the second inning.
- Freshman Jack Gorman recorded his first career double on Saturday as he leads the team thru the first two games with a 3-for-7 stat line.
- Junior Logan Ymker made his first appearance as a Blue Hose on Saturday throwing the final inning of the game.
- Junior Alex Flood recorded five strikeouts over 3.1 innings as his strikeouts were one off a career-high six he's had twice with the last happening against Winthrop last year.
