GREENVILLE, N.C.- The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team played their first road game of the year against a strong East Carolina team. The Blue Hose found out how strong the Pirates were as they lost 20-3.
East Carolina scored the opening goal just over a minute into the game, and then scored a second off the draw control 11 seconds later. The Pirates were quick to add another as they made it 3-0 with 11:44 left in the first quarter. Their first quarter dominance would continue as they made a 9-0 run throughout the quarter.
The Pirates made it a 10-0 run at the start of the second quarter. Presbyterian would score their first goal though by way of
Abby Edmisten at the 10:33 mark. East Carolina would score two more before Edmisten scored her second of the game and team-leading seventh of the season. Her goal would be the final goal of the first half.
The Blue Hose were unable to build on that slight momentum as the Pirates accounted for five unanswered in the third quarter. Freshman
Willow Hammond scored her second goal of the year to begin the fourth quarter, but East Carolina was too much to handle scoring three more to close out the game.
The Blue Hose return home on Friday, February 25 as they take on Kent State at 5pm inside Bailey Memorial Stadium.
