CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team played their first home game in two weeks, but it did not go as they planned as the Kent State Golden Flashes came to Bailey Memorial Stadium and edged out the Blue Hose, 15-12.
PC started the game off well scoring in the opening two minutes as
Sophie Sullinger netted her second of the year.
Abby Edmisten scored shortly after for her eight of the year, and
Kenzie Partsch added her second just after the five-minute mark. However, that would be all the Blue Hose could get by the Kent State goalie until late in the second quarter as the Golden Flashes went on an 8-1 run to end the first half, taking an 8-4 lead into the break.
Presbyterian opened the second half scoring with Edmisten potting her second of the game. Kent State answered immediately, but the Blue Hose went on a 3-0 run courtesy of Edmisten,
Madison Berg, and
Ryann Doyle to close the gap to 9-8. The Golden Flashes responded with a 4-0 run of their own until
Ana Boothe scored the final goal of the 3
rd quarter to make it 13-9 heading into the final frame.
Edmisten would strike again to begin the 4
th quarter just 57 second in. She would score her sixth goal of the game with 7:09 left as she gave PC some life late, making it 14-11. The junior would put one in the net one more time for her 14
th of the season, but it was too little too late as Kent State ran down the clock and didn't allow Presbyterian many more offensive opportunities.
The Blue Hose continue their three-game home stand with game two of it coming up on Wednesday, March 2 at 12pm against Stetson.
