CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team wasn't able to get out of their mini skid as they dropped their Wednesday afternoon contest to Stetson, 16-4. The Blue Hose had their chances though with 21 total shots, but only going 1-10 in free-position attempts.
Stetson opened the scoring at the 12:40 mark to take an early lead. Presbyterian's defense was able to hold off the Hatters for most of the 1
st quarter after that, but the Hatters would score five times in the final 4:40 to grab a 6-0 lead. PC was finally to get their offense in motion as
Willow Hammond opened the 2
nd quarter scoring, notching her 3
rd of the year. Stetson would go on a 3-0 run before
Taryn Tomas found herself up the field as she earned a free-position opportunity. Tomas faked one way and went the other to slide it past the goalie for her first goal of the year, making it a 10-2 deficit at halftime.
The Blue Hose defense was doing better, but a lack of movement and chance creation in the offensive end saw Stetson score four straight in the 3
rd quarter. PC would score two in the 4
th quarter as
Sophie Sullinger put away her 3
rd of the season, and
Nya Bettis added her second this year. The Presbyterian defense held the Hatters scoreless in the 4
th, but two late goals by the green and white put away the game, 16-4.
The Blue Hose wrap up their home stretch with a game against Butler on Wednesday, March 9 at 3pm.
