CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team fell for the fourth straight game on Wednesday afternoon as they couldn't get by the Butler Bulldogs, 20-4.
Things didn't start out great for Presbyterian as an opening possession turnover led to a free-position chance for Butler and they cashed in, opening the scoring just over a minute in. PC had chances after however as
Madison Berg was foiled just in front of the net, and
Sophie Sullinger just missed on a free-position shot. A Butler penalty gave the Blue Hose a man-up chance, but
Nya Bettis had
Mickey Paredes had their shots stopped. The Bulldogs scored twice late in the quarter for a 3-0 lead after one. Butler would make it 5-0 in the 2
nd quarter before
Willow Hammond scored on the man-up opportunity. The moment was short lived as Butler scored five unanswered before PC got their second of the game courtesy of
Olivia Staas, her first collegiate goal. The Bulldogs held an 11-2 lead at the end of the 1
st half.
Presbyterian tried to get back into it early in the 3
rd quarter, but offensive turnovers and missed shots plagued the Blue Hose. Butler would end up scoring all four goals in the 3
rd quarter to go up 15-2. The Bulldogs would add two more to their run before
Kylie Sullivan notched her second of the year on a free-position.
Gillian Craig would also slot one home from a free-position shot on the man-up, but the Bulldogs' lead was too large to overcome that late in the game.
The Blue Hose prepare for a three-game road trip as they kick things off in Delaware for a matchup against Delaware State on Sunday, March 13 at 1pm.
