DOVER, DE- The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team started their three-game road trip with a win on Sunday afternoon, a 15-7 victory over Delaware State.
PC wasted little time getting the scoring started as
Nya Bettis slotted one home just 40 seconds into the match.
Madison Berg doubled the lead a couple minutes later as Presbyterian was out to a fast start. After a game off,
Abby Edmisten came back to the lineup and continued her scoring ways as she put the Blue Hose up 3-0. After Delaware State scored their first of the game, Presbyterian scored three unanswered to end the 1
st quarter which included
Sophie Sullinger and Edmisten notching two to grab a hat trick. Presbyterian kept their run alive as they rifled three more into the back of the net, one by
Willow Hammond and two more by Edmisten. The teams traded goals as the 2
nd quarter came to a close with Presbyterian leading 10-2 at the break.
Both teams came out of halftime more defensively as only one goal was scored by the Hornets in the 3
rd quarter.
Tayler Hofmeister got that goal back to begin the 4
th quarter, but Delaware State wasn't going away as they scored two to make it 11-5. The final nine minutes would be a tough stretch for the Blue Hose, but they were able to outscore the Hornets and hold on to victory.
Kylie Sullivan,
Gillian Craig, and two from
Kenzie Partsch were enough to keep PC on top and come away with the 15-7 win.
The Blue Hose continue their road swing with a game against Saint Francis on Tuesday, March 15 at 3pm.
