Wilson Tallies Win in Defeat at Georgia Southern

Statesboro, Ga.. – Sophomore Alexa Wilson tallied a straight-set singles win as the Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Georgia Southern on Sunday at the Wallis Tennis Center.

"I am really proud of the effort today. The team fought through some adversity and two rain delays and stayed locked in all day. Georgia Southern played very well so hats off to them."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Georgia Southern top doubles team got the Eagles going quickly with a 6-2 win before a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 spot gave the hosts the early 1-0 edge.
- The Eagles also led 5-2 at No. 2 doubles before it was called due to GSU already clinching the doubles point.
- The hosts pushed the advantage to 2-0 with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles.
- Alexa Wilson got the Blue Hose on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- GSU quickly answered with a straight-set win at No. 5 singles and clinched the match with a three-set comeback win at No. 3 singles to win Sunday's match.
- The Eagles added a pair of three set victories at No. 1 and 4 to earn the 6-1 decision over the Blue Hose.  

UP NEXT
- The Blue Hose will travel to Charleston on March 2 for a rescheduled match with the College of Charleston set for 1:30 p.m.
