CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College softball team will look to extend its win streak on Tuesday afternoon as they host ETSU in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 1pm.
Presbyterian is 8-3 on the season after three wins at the GVL Showdown. PC won a pitcher's duel in their lone game on Friday, defeating Iona 1-0. The only run of the game was scored in the 6
th inning as
Jersey Silver scored on a passed ball. The Blue Hose won both games on Saturday, holding on against George Mason 8-7, and knocking off Iona again 7-3.
ETSU is 4-9 this season and currently on a four-game losing streak. Playing in three tournaments so far, the Bucs lost four of five in Georgia their first weekend, took three of four at the Red & Black Classic hosted by Gardner-Webb, and lost all four at the I-75 Tournament in Georgia.
PC is led by
Jillian Hewes at the plate who most recently became the team's leading hitter with a .464 avg. She is also tied for the team lead in hits with 13, has a team-high six walks, and a team-best .556 OB%. The Simpsonville native currently sits second in the Big South in avg., with teammates
Jersey Silver and
Morgan Hess coming in at 5
th and 7
th, respectively.
The Blue Hose have a pair of four-win pitchers in
Jenna Greene and
Morgan Hess. Hess is a perfect 4-0 while Greene has won four straight, putting her record to 4-2. Greene is third in the Big South in strikeouts with 52 and leads the conference in opponent avg., only allowing them a .137 avg. Hess sits right behind her in second place with a .162 opponent avg., and is 2
nd in the conference in ERA at 0.99.
