CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College softball team will play their second conference series as they welcome Hampton to PC Softball Complex for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 19, and conclude the series with a single game on Sunday, March 20.
The Blue Hose are 16-5 overall and 2-1 in the Big South. PC's last games came against conference foe Radford in which the team won the series, winning the first two before being knocked off in game three. Presbyterian was scheduled for a non-conference twin-bill at Western Carolina on Thursday, but those games have been postponed until April 12.
A large part of Presbyterian's success this year has been because of what they've done at the plate. The team is hitting .317 which is second-best in the league. They also have the second highest slugging % at .464, and on base % at .383. Individually,
Layna Johnson leads the team in avg. with a .375, also good for 8
th in the conference. Five other Blue Hose are hitting above .300 with
Kaitlyn Tucker,
Morgan Hess, and
Jaiden Tweed ranking in the top 15 in the Big South. Due to the red hot hitting, PC has earned four straight weekly honors from the Big South with Hess, Tucker, and
Jillian Hewes winning Player of the Week, and
Kelby Goodrum most recently being named Co-Freshman of the Week.
PC's pitching has also done their part in helping the team to 16 wins so far.

Morgan Hess each have eight wins and over 75 strikeouts, the only duo in the league to reach those marks. Hess has a league-best 1.34 ERA and Greene sits in 4
th at 1.89. Greene's 91 punchouts are a team-best, and the pair is holding opponents to just a .179 batting average.
Hampton comes to Clinton with a 10-15 record and 1-2 in conference play. They most recently dropped a pair to Norfolk State in midweek action and have lost nine of their last ten games with the only win coming over Gardner-Webb. The Pirates are led offensively by Janae Lyles who is batting .364. She has a team-high three homeruns and slugging % at .561. In the circle, Emily Workman is 4-0 through nine appearances.
