Lacrosse Downed in Big South Contest at Gardner-Webb

Boiling Springs, N.C. – Freshman Willow Hammond connected on a pair of goals as the Presbyterian College lacrosse team was defeated on Saturday 16-3 by Gardner-Webb at Spangler Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gardner-Webb raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first quarter before Abby Edmisten connected on a free position goal with 2:55 to play in the quarter to make it 7-1 Runnin' Bulldogs after one quarter.
- The hosts added the lone goal of the second four minutes in to take an 8-1 lead to the halftime break.
- In the third quarter, Willow Hammond connected on a free-position goal four minutes in to cut the deficit to 8-2. Gardner-Webb added four unanswered goals to push the lead out to 10, 12-2 after three quarters.
- The Runnin' Bulldogs added three goals in the opening six minutes of the final stanza before Hammond buried her second goal of the afternoon. Gardner-Webb added a late goal en route to the 16-3 Big South win on Saturday afternoon.
 
NOTABLES
- Hammond tallied a pair of goals on Saturday as she's scored 15 on the year which sits second on the team. Edmisten picked up her team-high 28th goal.
- PC totaled 18 shots led by Edmisten with four and Hammond with three.
- Kendall Goldfarb led the team with four ground balls as Heidi Shafer added three.
- Shafer also added nine saves in Saturday's contest.
- Nya Bettis along with Goldfarb each had a pair of draw controls.
