PC Plays Western Carolina on the Road

The Presbyterian College Blue Hose travel across the border to North Carolina to play the Western Carolina Catamounts in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 19, with the first game beginning at 4 p.m.

BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
The Blue Hose are second in the Big South and 25th in the nation in hitting with a team average of .316. They are second in the Big South and 18th in the nation in pitching with a 2.03  ERA. PC ranks second in the league with a fielding percentage of .965.
 
Kaitlyn Tucker is second in the Big South with a .385 batting average. Layna Johnson (.380 average) and Jillian Hewes (.363 average) rank among the top ten hitters in the Big South. Morgan Hess leads the Blue Hose with eight home runs and 31 RBIs. Lath Freeman is second on the team with 29 RBIs.

Jenna Greene and Hess lead the Blue Hose in the circle with 13 and 11 wins, respectively. Those numbers rank them fourth and fifth in the conference. Hess leads the team and ranks third in the league with a 1.56 ERA. Greene is fourth in the league with a 1.60 ERA. Greene is third in the conference in opponent batting average, holding hitters to a .182 clip.
 
PRESBYTERIAN-WESTERN CAROLINA SERIES
Tuesday's doubleheader marks the 22nd and 23rd time that the Western Carolina and Presbyterian have played,  the Blue Hose lead the all-time series, 12-9. Presbyterian won both games of a doubleheader at home the last time the two teams played on April 14, 2021. The last time the two teams played in Cullowhee was March 29, 2016, the Catamounts won both games of the doubleheader.
 
SCOUTING WESTERN CAROLINA CATAMOUNTS
The Catamounts took two of their three-game Southern Conference home series against Mercer last weekend. Senior Bailey Huneycutt leads the Catamounts with a .336 batting average while connecting on 11 home runs to go along with 41 RBIs, which ranks her second in the Southern Conference in RBIs. Junior Brooklyn Brewington has swiped 22 bases this season which ranks her second in the Southern Conference and 32nd in the NCAA in stolen bases.
