Blue Hose Topped by Lancers

CLINTON, S.C. -  The Presbyterian College women's lacrosse team (2-8, BSC: 0-2) battled the Longwood Lancers (5-5, BSC: 2-0) before falling in a 15-8 loss at Bailey Memorial Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Longwood scored the game's first two goals. Presbyterian answered with two straight goals tying the score at two halfway through the first quarter. Ana Boothe scored the Blue Hose's first goal off a free position shot at the 10:18 mark. Madison Berg tied the score at two when she put the ball into the net from a Boothe assist with 9:17 on the clock. Berg's goal was her ninth of the season. Longwood regained the lead with a goal thirty seconds later. Presbyterian behind goals by Abby Edmisten and Boothe took a 4-3 lead with five minutes left in the quarter. Edmisten's goal came at the 6:01 mark. While Boothe scored her second goal of the game off a free position shot with 5:33 on the clock. Longwood tied the score at four with a goal in the closing seconds of the quarter.

With two and a half minutes gone in the second quarter, the Blue Hose regained the lead 5-4 when Willow Hammond slotted it home. Longwood regained the lead for good with five unanswered goals in the quarter to take a 9-5 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Longwood pushed their lead to 10-5 just over a minute in the second half. Hammond got one back for the Blue Hose with her second goal of the game and her 12th of the season with 5:44 on the clock. Longwood answered with a goal with 1:52 on the clock. With 57 seconds left in the quarter, Presbyterian's Booth scored her third goal of the game and her sixth of the season off a free position shot.

In the fourth quarter with 10:27 on the clock, Edmisten scored her second goal of the game and her24th of the season which would close out the scoring for the Blue Hose. Longwood scored the game's final four goals.
 
NOTABLES
Presbyterian's Boothe scored three goals. While Edmisten and Hammond tallied two goals apiece.
The Blue Hose finished the game with 17 shots including six shots in the first quarter.
