Women's Tennis Records Senior Day Win over Longwood

CLINTON, S.C... –  The Presbyterian College women's tennis team got back in the win column on Saturday with a 6-1 victory over Longwood in Big South Conference action. The Blue Hose honored their 2022 senior class following Saturday's match.

"It was a great day for the team this afternoon. They played great and focused throughout the match. It was the perfect day for senior day with all three seniors getting victories. The team is ready for a quick turnaround against Chattanooga tomorrow."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The senior doubles pair of Zeba Jamal and Beth Lacey tallied a 6-3 win to open Saturday's match before the Lancers top duo won 6-2 to set up the deciding point on No.3.
- Valentina De Sousa and Lucianna Piedra clinched the doubles point for PC with a 6-4 win at No. 3 to push PC out to the 1-0 advantage.
- Claudia Sanchez and Piedra both won their singles matches 6-3, 6-0 to push the Blue Hose lead out to 3-0.
- Senior Jessica Leeman clinched the match for the Blue Hose with a 6-0, 7-5 decision at the No. 2 spot for Presbyterian.
- Lacey and Madison Dennett also earned victories as Longwood won at No. 1 singles to push the final to 6-1 for the Blue Hose on Saturday.
 
NOTABLES
- Sanchez and Lacey both earned their 10th singles win on Saturday with their straight-set wins over the Lancers.
- Both are also a team-high 5-1 overall in conference which paces the Blue Hose. Five conference wins ties them for second in the single-season DI record book just needing two more wins to tie the program record.
- With her singles win, Leeman tied Beth Taylor for third in the program's DI record book with 13 career Big South singles wins.
- Following Saturday's match, PC honored its 2022 senior class of Lacey, Jamal and Leeman.
