Presbyterian Falls to Campbell in Tightly Contested Big South Semifinals Match

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian Blue Hose men's tennis team (14-11) fell in a tightly contested match to the top seed Campbell Camels (16-5), 4-3, in the semifinals of the Big South Conference Championship.
 
DOUBLES
Campbell won two of the three singles matches to capture the doubles points. Campbell posted a 6-1 win at number two doubles. Presbyterian's All-Big South Doubles team of Javier Matos and Sebastian Dominguez tallied a 6-3 win at number three doubles tying the doubles matches at one apiece. In a hard-fought match, Campbell outlasted Presbyterian's number one doubles team, 7-5, to clinch the doubles point.
 
SINGLES
The two teams split the six singles matches. Campbell pushed their lead to 3-0 with wins at number four and five singles. Presbyterian's Dusan Milanovic, who was the Big South Freshman of the Year, defeated Campbell's Damien Nezar, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4,  at number one singles giving the Blue Hose their first point. Then, Presbyterian's Max Benson, who was just voted All-Big South Conference Singles for the third straight year, defeated Campbell's Tomas Balazi in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, at number two singles. At number three singles, Presbyterian's Dominguez, who was a Second Team All-Big South Singles selection, 6-3, 6-3, to even the match at three. The match came down to number six singles. Presbyterian's Teo Cariov won the first set, 6-4, but Campbell's Noe MacQuart won the next two sets, 6-4, 6-1, to send Campbell to the Championship match.
