Asheville Tops Blue Hose in Series Finale

CLINTON, S.C. –  The Presbyterian College baseball team suffered a 7-1 setback against UNC Asheville in the series finale at the PC Baseball Complex on Sunday afternoon. Eric Toth and Jay Wetherington each recorded two hits to lead the Blue Hose offense on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
- UNC Asheville got on the board first as the Bulldogs drew a bases-loaded hit by a pitch to take the early 1-0 lead.
- In the third, Asheville added a two-run single and a bases-loaded walk to push the advantage to 4-0. 
- The guests continued to push offense across with a two-run shot in the fourth followed by a solo homer in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead.
- In the home half of the sixth, PC scratched across a run via an RBI single from Dalton Reeves but the Bulldogs would keep the Blue Hose off the scoreboard the rest of the afternoon to earn a 7-1 win. 
 
NOTABLES
- Eric Toth and Jay Wetherington led the offense with two hits apiece. Wetherington tallied his ninth multi-hit game and Toth now has seven games with 2+ hits.
- With his eighth-inning single, Brody Fahr now has reached base safely in 20 straight games including 10 in a row via hits. 
- For the second time on the weekend, Logan Ymker tied his season-high with three strikeouts as the Blue Hose junior tossed two scoreless frames in relief. Over his last three appearances, Ymker has totaled seven strikeouts and tossed five shutout innings.
- Toth recorded a season-high with two strikeouts in scoreless frames.
 
 UP NEXT
 - Presbyterian hits the road on Tuesday at 4 p.m. for a matchup at the College of Charleston. The Blue Hose and Cougars met on March 1 with Charleston earning the 7-3 victory.
