Gardner-Webb Tops PC on Saturday

Boiling Springs, N.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team dropped Saturday's contest 9-4 against the host Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs at Bill Masters Field. Ryan Ouzts hit his fifth homer of the season in the sixth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
- Gardner-Webb got on the board first with an RBI single to take the early lead on Saturday afternoon.
- Following a weather delay in the second inning, Kyle Decker and Jay Wetherington recorded a pair of RBI singles to push PC in front and take the 2-1 lead after 1.5 innings.
- The Blue Hose added a run in the fourth with a Runnin' Bulldogs wild pitch to make it 3-1 after 3.5 frames.
- The Runnin' Bulldogs tallied three runs in their half of the fourth inning to jump back in front by the score of 4-3 after four innings.
- The host recorded a two-run homer in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-3 after five.
- Ryan Ouzts connected on a solo shot in the sixth to cut the home team's lead to 6-4.
- Gardner-Webb added a run in the seventh and recorded two runs in the eighth en route to a 9-4 victory on Saturday.
 
NOTABLES
- Ouzts tallied his fifth multi-hit game of the season which included connecting on his fifth homer of the season. It was also his third homer in league play on Saturday.
- Senior Clark Dearman tossed a season-high four innings of relief as Dearman matched his career-high with five strikeouts.
- Wetherington pushed his hit streak to six in a row with his RBI single in the second inning.
- First pitch was delayed about 35 minutes and the two teams were delayed in the second inning for about an hour due to weather in and around the Boiling Springs area.
- Jack Gorman swiped his 11th base of the season.
