Baseball Falls in Series Finale at Charleston Southern

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team dropped its series finale on Sunday afternoon to Charleston Southern 8-2 at Nielsen Field. Eric Toth tallied a pair of hits for PC as Jack Gorman and Jeremiah Boyd grabbed an RBI apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
- CSU pushed across the first run of the game in the second inning taking advantage of a Blue Hose error to get the early 1-0 lead.
- The Blue Hose quickly tied it up in the third inning with an RBI double from Boyd that scored Dalton Reeves and tied the game at one after 2.5 innings.
- The hosts regained the lead in the third with a three-run third to take a 4-1 lead. 
- Charleston Southern pushed the lead to six, 7-1 in the fifth with a three-run frame.
- Gorman tallied an RBI double in the sixth to make it 7-2 CSU after 5.5.
- CSU recorded a sacrifice fly in the eighth to push it to an 8-2 final on Sunday afternoon in Charleston. 

NOTABLES
- With his team-high two hits on Sunday, Toth improved his reached base streak to 25 games in a row. He also picked up his team-high 18th multi-hit game of the 2022 season.
- In the last 14 Big South contests, Toth has recorded at least one hit and is hitting a team-high .387 in conference play. 
- Ryan Folts tossed a scoreless inning of relief with his second game of two strikeouts this season. He also tallied a pair of punchouts at Clemson about two weeks ago.
- Ryan Ouzts added a base knock to finish the weekend with a .462 average (6-of-13) with a double, homer, and six RBIs in Charleston.
- Boyd picked up his team-high 34th RBI on Sunday with his RBI double in the third inning. 

UP NEXT
- The Blue Hose continue their road swing on Wednesday, May 11 at 6 p.m. with a trip to Spartanburg to face Wofford.
