Women's Basketball Inks Four to 2022-23 Roster

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College and head women's basketball coach Alaura Sharp announced the addition of four players to the program's 2022 class on Tuesday.
 
Núria Cunill, Dagne Apsite, Sonia Sato and Christina Kline are set to join the program for the 2022-23 season.

Núria Cunill – F – 6-1 – Berga, Spain – Eastern Washington University
Prior to PC:  Cunill spent the last two seasons at Eastern Washington University where she played in 47 games for the Eagles. She pulled down a career-high 12 points and 14 rebounds against Evergreen State in November of 2021. Prior to going to EWU, Cunill attended the Institut Guillem de Bergueda. She led her team to a Primera Catalana League Championship in 2019 and averaged a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. In High School, she averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds and was selected as Player of the Year in the Preferent League.

Núria on choosing PC: "I chose Presbyterian because of the family feel I received from Coach Sharp. I feel PC is a great place for me to continue my basketball and academic career and grow ."

Coach Sharp on Núria: " We are pumped to add Nuria to our program. She will add much needed length and physicality to our team. She is intelligent and has a good basketball IQ. She is very mature and will bring college experience to our roster. We are thankful she chose PC and are excited for her to get here!"

Dagne Apsite Graphic 
Dagne Apsite – F – 6-2 – Saldus, Latvia – UTEP
Prior to PC: Apsite appeared in 28 games over her two seasons at UTEP. She pulled down three rebounds in a season-high 15 minutes against Kansas last season. She was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll in both 2020 & 2021. Apsite gained international experience competing with the U16 and U17 Latvian National Team. She also played with BK Saldus Sporta Skola as well before going to El Paso.

Dagne on choosing PC: " I loved how excited the staff was towards me becoming a blue hose and It felt like the right choice to make.."

Coach Sharp on Dagne: " Dagne is an exciting addition to our program. She has great length and athleticism. She has the ability to defend multiple positions and plays extremely hard on both ends of the floor. She has the ability to step out and shoot the three as well as score in the post. Dagne is smart, hard working  and committed to being a great player. We are thrilled she chose PC."


Sonia Sato Graphic
Sonia Sato – G – 6-0 – El Paso, Texas – McCook Community College
Prior to PC: Sato played the 2021-22 season at McCook Community College where she saw action in 31 games with 29 starts. She averaged 9.7 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per contest. The El Paso, Texas native had 17 double-figure scoring performances last season led by 23 against North Platte Community College. Following the season, Sato was named to the All-Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference Team.

Sonia on choosing PC: " I chose PC because it offers everything I was hoping for. I am confident that I will grow here both as a student and athlete."

Coach Sharp on Sonia: " Our staff was really excited when Sonia called and committed. We were in need of an athletic, versatile player who can rebound and score inside and outside the paint. Sonia checks all those boxes and has a great upside as a player. She is an exceptional person and student with a competitive drive that will make an immediate impact on the program."

Christina Kline – G – 5-10 – Winter Garden, Fla. – La Salle
Prior to PC: Kline saw action in 57 games over three seasons at La Salle. In 2019-20 she had a game with eight points and five rebounds against league foe Duquesne. After the 2019-20 season she was named to the league's honor roll. Last season against Niagara she posted an eight point and seven rebound performance with three steals added to her stat line. Prior to heading to La Salle, she was a 1,000-point scorer at West Orange High School where she also earned back-to-back district championships.

Christina on choosing PC: "PC has a great staff and players that all have the same goal, which is to do big things this year"

Coach Sharp on Christina: " We are proud to announce the signing of Christina. She is a prolific shooter with good range on her shot and has the capability to pull up off the dribble. She has a good basketball IQ and is a tremendous person. She brings experience from a competitive program where she was a leader on and off the court. Christina is a great student and will be a wonderful addition to PC and our program."
