Bailey Records Double-Double in Setback at Appalachian State

BOONE, N.C. – Junior setter Kinsey Bailey notched her first double-double of the season with 21 assists and 10 digs but the Presbyterian College volleyball team came out on the wrong end of a 3-0 decision against Appalachian State (19-25, 13-25, 17-25) in the final match of the Mountaineer Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Holmes Convocation Center.

How it Happened 
- Both teams traded bursts in the early going with six ties before a 9-1 run by the Mountaineers gave the hosts a 15-7 lead in the opening set. The Blue Hose answered with an 8-1 run to force an Appalachian State timeout and cut the deficit to three, 18-15. The Mountaineers used a 5-1 run to take a late lead en route to a 25-19 set one victory.
- The Blue Hose and Mountaineers played to a 3-3 score early in set two before a 7-1 burst from App State gave them the 10-4 lead. PC cut it to four, 14-10 before the hosts finished the set on an 11-3 burst to give them the 2-0 lead on the heels of a 25-13 set two victory.
- Appalachian State jumped out to a 5-2 lead early in the third set before PC was able to cut the Mountaineer lead to one, 8-7. The Blue Hose cut the lead to three, 12-9 before a 3-1 burst gave the hosts a 15-10 lead at the media timeout. The Mountaineers pushed the lead to six, 19-13 forcing a PC timeout. The hosts were able to keep the margin throughout the remainder of the set en route to a 25-17 sweep on Saturday afternoon.

Notables
- Hailey Grocholski totaled a team-high seven kills on the afternoon to lead the attack while Rylee Moorhead added six kills and a dig.
- Bailey finished one off of her season-high with 21 assists and added 10 digs for her first double-double of the season.
- Bailey also tied her career-high with four kills in the contest.
- Freshman Aliza Hart matched her season-high with eight digs on the defensive end.
- Freshman Elyse Hutchinson added five kills while totaling a .429 hitting percentage which is a high mark for the freshman.
- Bailey also earned all-tournament team honors following the tournament.
