Blue Hose Remain Undefeated with Road Win at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Behind goals by Gerard Lopez, Nile Nguidjol, and the game-winning goal by Vidar Ragnarsson, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (5-0) remain undefeated with a 3-2 road win over the Wofford Terriers (2-4).

"Our guys have found different ways to win this season," Presbyterian coach Jonathan Potter said.  "Tonight we had to really grind out the win against a tough Wofford team on the road. Credit to our guys to find the game-winner off a set piece."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the 10th minute, Wofford scored the game's first goal when Jackson Wrobel scored.
In the 22nd minute, Presbyterian's Lopez was fouled in the box by Wofford's Paul Jones, which resulted in a red card for Jones. Lopez converted his second penalty kick goal of the season tying the score at one.
In the 36th minute, Presbyterian's Nguidjol beat Wofford's goalkeeper Cameron Victor with a shot just inside the right post giving the Blue Hose the lead. Connor Hudson assisted on the goal. 
In the 51st minute, Wofford tied the score at two off a goal by Moa Mohammedi.
In the 80th minute, Presbyterian's Ragnarsson headed in a Niklas Hoener corner kick which proved to be the game-winner.
 
NOTABLES
  • Presbyterian's Lopez scored his team leading third goal of the season.
  • Nguidjol and Ragnarsson both scored their first goals of the season. Ragnarsson's goal was the first of his career.
  • Presbyterian finished the game with a 12-10 advantage in shots. Carson Griffith, David Citron and Lopez each recorded two shots apiece. Ragnarsson, Nguidjol, Hoener, Iragi Kalala, Ben Kaindu, and Lorenzo Nagy each contributed a shot apiece to the Blue Hose attack.
  • The Blue Hose continue to add to their Division I era school-record best start with five wins to begin the season.
