PC Set to Host Spartans on Wednesday Night

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team wraps up a brief two-game home stretch on Wednesday as the Blue Hose welcome in USC Upstate for a 6:30 p.m. tip from the Templeton Center. The matchup with the Spartans is set to be shown on ESPN3.

Opening Tip
- The Blue Hose return to the Templeton Center court on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. tip against USC Upstate. PC looks to get back in the win column after back-to-back tight defeats against Gardner-Webb and High Point last week. The Spartans enter Wednesday's matchup coming off of a 55-42 victory over Longwood on Saturday in Spartanburg.
 
Last Time Out
- The Presbyterian College women's basketball team scored 13 of the final 14 points of regulation with a chance to win at the end but were unable to sneak past High Point as the Panthers held on for the 82-80 victory on Saturday afternoon inside the Templeton Center. PC was led by junior Laila Grant, who scored 20 points off the bench with five rebounds, as junior Núria Cunill added 17, going 8-of-8 from the field in the defeat.
 
Scouting the Spartans
- The Spartans enter Wednesday's contest following a 13-point victory over Longwood on Saturday to improve to 4-1 in league play. USC Upstate is led by Isabella Geraci who's averaging 10.3 points/game and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per contest. Rebekah Gordon has added 10 ppg and 5.3 rebounds/game this season for the Spartans. Upstate is led in assists by Trinity Johnson who's dished out a team-high 32 helpers. Geraci paces USC Upstate with 28 steals on the season. Upstate faced three common non-conference opponents to PC as they suffered defeats against WCU (58-48) and UNCG (54-48). The Spartans defeated Morehead State prior to league play 64-59.
 
Head-to-Head vs. the Spartans
- The Blue Hose and Spartans have met 14 times in PC's DI era with both team earning seven wins in those 14 matchups. USC Upstate earned a pair of wins over the Blue Hose last season with PC sweeping the season series during the 2020-21 campaign.
 
Brady Filling Up the Basket in League
- Following a career-high 29 points on Wednesday against Gardner-Webb, fifth-year senior Bryanna Brady has scored double figures in five of six conference contests highlighted by Wednesday's 29-point performance. Brady is averaging a team-high 16.3 ppg in league play which ranks second in the league. Brady has tallied 10 double-figure scoring games overall with five of those happening in league contests.
 
Kierscht Heating Up from Beyond the Arc
- The Blue Hose freshman continues to light it up from beyond the arc especially over the past seven games for PC as Aubrie Kierscht has connected on 26-of-46 threes in the last seven highlighted by a season-high six against Winthrop. Kierscht has made a team-high 38 on the season which puts her third in the Big South as she sits in the top 20 nationally in three-point percentage at 44.7% thus far in the 2022-23 season.
 
Sjökvist Racking Up the Helpers
- The Huskvarna, Sweden native continues to rack up the assists over the past seven games in particular as she's totaled 39 assists in the Blue Hose last seven games including six helpers in four of those contests. Tilda Sjökvist sits second in the league and in the top 90 in the nation in assists with 71 as she's also second in the conference with 4.2 assists/game. She's had seven games this season with 5+ assists.
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks
- Brady enters Wednesday's tilt third in the league in scoring averaging 13.8 points per contest this season... She also sits seventh in rebounding at 6.7 per game... The fifth-year senior still sits atop the league in field-goal percentage at 53.8%... Kierscht ranks third in the Big South with 38 triples as Mara Neira checks in tied for fourth with 25 triples and Sjökvist is tied for seventh with 24 threes on the season... Sjökvist sits second in the conference with 71 assists and 4.2 assists per game... She's also fourth in the league with a 1.2 assist/turnover ratio...
