WILMINGTON, N.C. – Presbyterian captured the doubles point and
Dusan Milanovic and
Sebastian Dominguez tallied singles wins but the Blue Hose (2-5) dropped a tightly contested match, 4-3, at UNCW (1-1) on Sunday afternoon.
DOUBLES
The Blue Hose won two doubles matches to claim the doubles point for the third straight match. At number one doubles, Milanovic and
Max Benson, who are ranked No. 22 in the ITA doubles rankings, won their second straight match with a 6-3 win. At number two doubles, Presbyterian Dominguez and
Javier Matos clinched the doubles point for the Blue Hose with a 7-5 win, The doubles tandem of
David Mamalat and
Teo Cariov were tied 6-6 against UNCW's number three doubles team when the match was stopped since the Blue Hose had clinched the doubles point.
SINGLES
UNCW won four of the six singles matches to capture the overall win. UNCW won at number five and four singles to take a 2-1 lead. At number one singles, Milanovic, who is ranked No. 63 in the ITA singles rankings, cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win for this fifth straight win to even the match at two. At number three singles, Presbyterian's Dominguez collected his second straight win with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 victory pushing the Blue Hose in front 3-2. However, UNCW won two tightly contested three sets matches at number six and number two singles to earn the overall victory.
