Davis Earns Third Singles Win of Season in Defeat at UNCG

GREENSBORO, N.C... – Freshman McKenzie Davis earned her third singles win of the season as the Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to UNCG on Sunday at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.

 "It was a tough one this afternoon against a good UNCG team. I am proud of how the team fought even after seeing one of their teammates go down with an injury in the middle of doubles. We will get healthy and be ready to play on Wednesday in Charleston." 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UNCG got off to a quick start with a 6-1 victory at the No. 1 doubles spot before McKenzie Davis and Varvara Nikolaeva earned the 6-4 win at the No. 3 doubles position.
- The host finished it with a 5-3 decision at the No. 2 spot after PC had an injury which forced retirement from the match to give the Spartans a 1-0 edge.
- UNC Greensboro pushed it to 2-0 at the No. 6 spot as the doubles injury lingered into singles play on Sunday afternoon.
- The Spartans grabbed a pair of straight-set wins at the No. 5 and No. 2 position to clinch the victory over PC.
- The Spartans took a straight-set decision at the No. 1 position before Davis forced a third set and earned the 6-2 win to get the Blue Hose on the board.
- UNCG earned a win at No. 4 singles to finish off the 6-1 decision over Presbyterian.
 
NOTABLES
- Davis improved to a team-high 3-1 with her victory on Sunday at the No. 3 singles spot. She also earned her third doubles win paired with Nikolaeva.

- PC continues its road swing with a 1 p.m. first serve on Wednesday afternoon in Charleston against the College of Charleston.
