Blue Hose Suffer Setback at Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C... –  Freshman McKenzie Davis earned her second straight and fourth overall singles win of the season as the Presbyterian College women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 defeat on the road on Wednesday afternoon at College of Charleston at CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point.

"It was a tough one this afternoon. College of Charleston has a very good team but our team competed hard. Can't wait to get after it again at home Saturday." 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars got the early edge in doubles with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles before a 7-6 (7-4) win at the No. 2 spot to get the early 1-0 edge.
- CofC pushed the edge to 2-0 with a win at the No. 6 singles position. The Cougars picked up a straight-set win at No. 5 singles before clinching Wednesday's match with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot.
- College of Charleston increased it's lead to 5-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the top singles spot before Davis got PC on the board with her second win in as many matches at the No. 3 spot.
- The Cougars closed out the match with a straight-set win at the No. 4 spot to earn a 6-1 victory over PC in Charleston on Wednesday afternoon.
 
NOTABLES
- Davis carried her strong play from Sunday earning her second straight win and improved to 4-1 with her victory over the No. 3 player for Charleston.
- Wednesday's match marked the first time the two teams had met in Charleston since 2009.
