Women's Tennis Travels to Charleston For Midweek Tilt

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday afternoon with a 1:30 p.m. first serve on the road against College of Charleston at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
- College of Charleston enters Wednesday's tilt with an 0-1 following a 7-0 defeat in its lone match of the 2023 dual season against Clemson.
- The Cougars went 19-7 during the 2022 dual season that saw CofC advance to the CAA semifinals before falling to Elon 4-3 in last year's tournament semis.
- Charleston is led by Halli Trinkle who went 21-3 a season ago for the Cougars as Slade Coetzee tallied an 18-4 mark for College of Charleston last year.
- Coetzee and Trinkle as a doubles pair went 15-5 last season as College of Charleston's top pair.
- Wednesday's tilt serves as the fourth head-to-head meeting in the DI era between the Blue Hose and Cougars with CofC earning wins in the prior three including most recently on February 21, 2021 by a 5-2 margin in Clinton.

LAST TIME OUT
- Freshman McKenzie Davis earned her third singles win of the season as the Presbyterian College women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to UNCG on Sunday at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
- On Friday, the Presbyterian College women's tennis team opened it's home schedule with a 4-0 setback on Friday morning against North Florida at the Templeton Tennis Courts. Prior to first serve on Friday, the Blue Hose and Ospreys came together to honor former PC student-athlete Kathryn Lois Kleckley with a Pink-Out.

NEWCOMERS
- Presbyterian returns four players from last season's team while adding a trio of new faces to the squad for the 2022-23 season.
- Fourth year head coach Joel Roberts welcomes back junior Lucianna Piedra (Mexico City, Mexico), sophomore Madison Dennett (Palm City, Fla.), Valentina De Sousa (Caracus, Venezuela) and Claudia Sanchez (Betera, Valencia, Spain).
- Roberts also welcomes Nikolaeva (Suffolk, Va.) along with McKenzie Davis (Florence, S.C.) and Claire Giddings (Milton, Ga.) as the three freshman to the roster for the 22-23 season.

SPRING SLATE
- Head Coach Joel Roberts 2023 spring slate features 21 matches including 15 in non-conference beginning with the weekend's matches at Lander and Clemson.
- 12 of the 15 non-conference matches occur against teams who tallied 10+ wins during the 2022 season highlighted by three with 19 wins last year. The three teams to total 19 victories were College of Charleston, Charlotte and Long Island.
- In conference play, PC plays host to Campbell, UNC Asheville and Radford with trips to Gardner-Webb, Longwood and Charleston Southern on tap this spring.
