CLINTON, S.C. – Sophomore midfielder Lina-Marie Müller of the Presbyterian College women's soccer team has been selected as the Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week. She grabs the award after producing a trio of assists in back-to-back Big South Conference victories over the likes of Gardner-Webb and Winthrop.
While the Blue Hose defense has constructed a streak of 196 consecutive minutes without a goal allowed, Müller has done her part in translating that solid D into points on the other side of the field. All three of PC's goals in the past five days have been scrounged up from the sophomore's ball-handling and maneuvering of the opposing back line.
Hailing from Schriesheim, Germany, Müller's past two outings have seen her run away with team-high honors in the assists category (five), tallying at least one point in four league meetings and five bouts overall.
The second-year foreigner has shifted into another gear at the most important section of the '23 schedule, lining up her second career goal at Radford on September 23 while going on to notch assists in contests against UNC Asheville, G-W, and Winthrop yesterday evening.
During the home win over the Runnin' Bulldogs and Monday's blanking of the Eagles, Müller drew up each of Presbyterian's strikes as part of an offense that has assembled 33 shot attempts in those two affairs.
Two of those helpers came within the first 15 minutes of the match, including an 11
th-minute poke to
Sloan Spees in Rock Hill that was all the space needed for the Blue Hose to register their second W in a row and first true road victory of the fall.
After sitting out as a freshman due to injury, the second-year rising star has played in 12 bouts this year – starting 11 of them – with 795 minutes behind her. She's scattered nine points (the aforementioned five assists and two scores), the highest number on head coach
Brian Purcell's roster.
The Presbyterian College athletic department partnered with Game One on a multi-year apparel agreement last November as an official team dealer for Adidas. The partnership extended the university's alliance with Adidas that began in 2015 to outfit the Blue Hose athletic programs.
Game One is among the largest and fastest-growing sports equipment and apparel suppliers in the country, serving a loyal customer base of 13,000 schools and organizations in 38 states.
