Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team (6-11, BSC: 4-1) lost to High Point (13-6, BSC: 6-0) 3-0 (19-25, 17-25, 18-25).
How It Happened vs. High Point
In the first set
Sophia Del Valle opens with a service ace, and
Hannah Rowe records an early kill, but the Panthers started out strong going up 10-3. The score was 16-12 after
Hailey Grocholski records back-to-back service aces and kills behind Rowe,
Courtney Williams,
Ashley Miller, and two from
Kasey Battle. Not long after, the Blue Hose are able to go on a five-point streak with kills from Rowe, Grocholski, and a service ace from
Courtney Aulbaugh. This run tied up the set at 17 apiece. High Point answers with a six-point streak of their own, going up 23-17. Rowe recorded two more kills in Presbyterian's efforts, but the Panthers took set one with a score of 25-19.
In set two High Point won the race to nine points, but Presbyterian tied it up there after kills from Battle, Williams, and Rowe. Throughout the next 11 points, the Panthers took nine of them to bring their lead up to seven with a score of 18-11. The Blue Hose took a few more points behind Miller with two kills, but High Point will win the set 25-17.
High Point starts out with the lead in the third set with a score of 7-5, with Blue Hose kills recorded by Bailey,
Julia Yurkovich, and
Elyse Hutchinson. The Panthers push their lead up to four with a score of 10-6, but PC answers winning four of the next five points bringing the Panthers lead down 11-10. High Point will score the next nine of 12, putting them up by seven with a score of 20-13. In the Blue Hose final efforts, they took the next five points after some Panther errors, a kill from Rowe, and a service ace from Del Valle. High Point answers with five of their own giving them the win 25-18.
