PC Rumbles with Runnin’ Bulldogs in Midweek Matchup

CLINTON, S.C. – Already at the halfway point of the 2023 Big South Conference journey, the Presbyterian College women's soccer team will engage in their second straight home bout on Wednesday night when facing off with Gardner-Webb. First touch at Martin Stadium will be broadcasted by ESPN+ at 7:00 PM.

The Blue Hose will aim to steer their recent trajectory back on the right track after coming up on the losing end of a 4-0 decision to High Point over the weekend. A victory over the Runnin' Bulldogs tomorrow would denote the first in the series in a full decade (a 1-0 triumph in the fall of 2013).

PC GOES PINK!

- In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the PC Athletic Department has initiated a week-long partnership with Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and the Laurens County Cancer Association (LCCA).
Zeroing in on four athletic events from Tuesday through Friday, the event aims to honor those who have bravely battled cancer, remember those we have lost, and raise funds for a crucial cause.

- Free pink t-shirts will be provided at Martin Stadium during the contest (running while supplies last). To make a donation to the LCCA, click here.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- Each of the past four encounters have resulted in either a tie or outright loss for G-W, currently in the midst of the debut season for head coach Tina Murphy. The Runnin' Bulldogs have been saddled with one goal or less in nine appearances, including a 2-1 setback against USC Upstate on Saturday.

- Since scoring back-to-back goals in an eventual tie with Wofford three weeks ago (both of which came after the match passed the 80-minute stamp following a 2-0 deficit), Gardner-Webb has been outgunned by a combined clip of 10-1.

- A 4-0 defeat at Longwood in the Big South opener preceded the aforementioned Upstate clash, wherein the Runnin' Bulldogs struck first in the 52nd minute only to give up two in a row to the Spartans the rest of the way.

- Presbyterian has concluded 10 straight meetings in the G-W series with either one score or none, in pursuit of the third victory all-time against their North Carolinian opponents.

LAST TIME OUT

- HPU registered a quartet of strikes at 14:06, 61:40, 66:27, and 73:46 to assume control of Saturday's affair, moving the Blue Hose to 0-3 in league encounters. Head coach Brian Purcell's club scattered 11 shot attempts in the loss, while Kelly Hall and Emma Cooke landed a combined seven stoppages at the goalie's spot.

- Tomorrow's contest will involve the first of PC's final three home events this season, flipping back and forth between the hosting and visiting party over the course of their last five matchups.

- Altogether, five of Presby's seven goals this semester have been assisted. The sophomore tandem of Lina-Marie Müller and Lindsey Malyszek have accounted for five of those scores, recording 27 on-target attempts throughout the year.
