CLINTON, S.C. – Checking in for their 2023-24 Templeton Gymnasium debut in just over 24 hours, the Presbyterian College women's wrestling team will move forward with two straight duals on Friday, beginning at 7:00 PM. Ranked number 13 in the nation via the latest NWCA poll, the Blue Hose will battle Bluefield State and Allen on ESPN+.
Acting the part of a nationally-ranked program by going through a brutal strength-of-schedule over the season's first month, PC holds a 1-2 record in head-to-head meetings after hosting various matches with Allen, Life, and #22 Emmanuel on November 19 that bared no overall team score.
It has been a near-365 days since the Presby women's wrestling squad competed in Templeton, last wrestling at the site on December 4, 2022 in a 37-10 beatdown over Mount Olive. Since then, head coach
Brian Vutianitis' club has undergone a distinct roster makeover after posting a ninth-place national finish last spring.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Both foes traveling to Clinton have seen a mixture of tournament and dual outcomes over the campaign's first steps, with Bluefield State entering the fray after a 34-10 victory earlier this month against Southwest Virginia Community College.
- On the flip side of the coin, Allen will still be searching for their first W after falling to Lincoln Memorial and St. Andrews on Wednesday, taking defeats by 15 and five points respectively on their home turf in Columbia.
- Tomorrow's affairs will denote the first-ever duals between Presbyterian and both opponents, having already built some familiarity with them during various tourneys and at the aforementioned Blue Hose Challenge.
LAST TIME OUT
- PC scattered 15 total victories when they last hit the mats at the Christian Life Center right beside campus, bringing their season count to 48 wins for a vastly-young lineup. Coach V's unit has acquired 26 pins approaching Friday's two-parter along with 12 wins by technical fall.
- Hovering just behind the countrywide top ten with a long way to go until nationals, the Blue Hose display two nationally-ranked grapplers (
Paige Wehrmeister in 3
rd place at 136 lbs., as well as
Henlee Haynes in 8
th place at the 170-lb. class).
- Three different competitors boast at least six wins at the time of writing, none more than true freshman
Alyssa Mahan (123), a Delaware native who became the first member of the squad to reach the 10-win mark after going 4-0 at the PC Invitational.
- Seven of Mahan's W's have come by either fall of TF, while Wehrmeister and
Charlee Shuler (116) sit right behind her with 12 combined victories at six apiece. That duo has picked up six technical's between them, continuing the program's upward surge with loads of potential sill untapped.
