Blue Hose Drop Home Game to Kennesaw State

CLINTON, S.C.  – Three Blue Hose players scored in double-figures, but Presbyterian (7-5) lost to the Kennesaw State Owls (8-3), 94-84, in the Templeton Center.
 
Junior guard Marquis Barnett scored a career-high 27 points while grabbing five rebounds. Junior guard Jamahri Harvey scored 14 points and also grabbed five rebounds. Freshman guard Kory Mincy scored 13 points while dishing out seven assists.
 
Presbyterian finished the game with 52 points in the paint.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – Kennesaw State scored the game's first basket. Then, Trevon Reddish-Rhone got the Blue Hose on the scoreboard with a layup. Kennesaw State scored eight straight points to take a 10-2 lead two and a half minutes into the game. Presbyterian's Kaleb Scott connected on a jump hook in the lane ending the Owls' scoring run making the score 10-4. Presbyterian was not able to get any closer to Kennesaw State the rest of the half.
 

SECOND HALF 
– Barnett began the second half scoring with an old-fashioned three-point play cutting the Owls' lead to 53-38. Kennesaw State would push their lead into the twenties. Kennesaw State led 77-54 at 8:49 on the clock, Presbyterian behind the scoring of Scott, Harvey, Mincy, and Kobe Stewart went on a 16-4 scoring run cutting Kennesaw State's lead to 81-70 after a dunk by Scott with 5:29 on the clock. Kennesaw State's Simeon Cottle, who scored 20 points in the game, connected on a three giving the Owls a 14-point lead. Layups from Barnett (two layups) and Mincy cut Kennesaw State's lead to 84-76 at the 3:20 mark. Kennesaw State converted on a three-point play taking an 11-point lead. Harvey answered with a three from the corner getting the Blue Hose back within eight points with  2:48 on the clock. Kennesaw State converted on two free throws. Then, Barnett knocked down a three at the top of the key getting the Blue Hose within seven points, 89-82, with 54 seconds on the clock. However, Presbyterian was not able to get any closer after Kennesaw State's Cottle made five free throws over the final 50 seconds.
 
NOTES
  • Barnett's 27 points marked his third career 20-point scoring game and his 28th career double-figure scoring game. Barnett shot 10-for-15 from the field.
  • Harvey's 14 points was his fifth double-digit scoring game of the season.
  • Mincy recorded his fourth straight double-figure scoring game with his season-high tying 13 points.
  • Presbyterian's 52 points in the paint was the fourth time this season that PC has scored at least 50 points in the paint in a game.
