Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Presbyterian Falls to No. 1 South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women's basketball team (8-4) lost to the No.1 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks (10-0) on Saturday, December 16 in Columbia, S.C.

COACH SHARP'S THOUGHTS
"I thought one of the best takeaways from the game is that we held them to only six offensive rebounds in the second half. The negative thing to zone is that you give up some offensive rebounds. Switching to man really helped us be better on the defensive glass in the second half. I thought Tilda played really fearless, I loved the way she played today. She led us with the grit, the toughness, and the fearless mentality that we need to get our team to another level."

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter – South Carolina took the first three-points of the game before Tilda Sjokvist answered with a three-pointer of her own. PC was able to grab two more points before the Gamecocks then went on a nine-point run. Sjokvist ended their streak with a layup. South Carolina went on to score seven more points until Laney Scoggins made a layup to put the score at 25-9. After a pair of foul shots from the other side, Nuria Cunill grabbed an offensive rebound and put it back up for two. Cunill was able to make another putback before the Gamecocks hit another three. A foul on Brady gave the Blue Hose two more points before the first quarter ended 36-15.

Second Quarter – The Gamecocks scored 18 of the first 19 points before a putback from Sjokvist gave PC two more points. PC was able to take four more points before the half, but South Carolina led 59-20.

Third Quarter – South Carolina took the first 12 points of the second half before Sjokvist hit a corner three for Presbyterian. The Gamecocks scored nine more points, ending the third quarter with a score of 80-23.

Fourth Quarter – After a scoreless minute and a half, SCU took nine points before Presbyterian sank two three-point shots behind Natalie Herrin and Sjokvist. The Gamecocks closed out the game with a final score of 99-29.
