Blue Hose Go Wire-to-Wire for Pivotal Big South Win over Campbell

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team withstood a fourth-quarter rally from Campbell as the Blue Hose picked up the 60-56 victory over the Fighting Camels on Saturday afternoon inside the Templeton Center. Mara Neira led the Blue Hose with 17 points as the sophomore connected on 5-of-6 three-pointers.

Scoring the Game
 - The Blue Hose raced out to an early 6-2 lead at the 6:53 mark of the opening quarter. The guests used a 4-1 burst to cut it to one before the Blue Hose closed the quarter on an 11-2 run to lead 18-8 after the opening 10 minutes. In the quarter, PC had six different players score, led by Tilda Sjökvist with five points. 
- Campbell quickly cut it to four, 18-14, on back-to-back threes before a Neira three made it 21-14 with 7:26 to play in the half. The Blue Hose used a 7-2 run to push the lead to 25-16 with 5:43 to play in the first half. The guests answered in a big way with an 8-3 run to cut the deficit to four, 28-24, with 3:34 to play. PC closed on an 11-3 run to take a 39-27 lead to the break. 
- The guests connected on a quick three in the opening minute of the second half before PC used a 10-2 burst to push the edge to 49-32 with 4:59 to play in the third quarter. The two teams traded a four-point burst to make it 53-36 as we moved to the fourth quarter.
- Campbell clawed back quickly in the fourth with a 13-3 run over the first six minutes to cut the Blue Hose lead to just seven, 56-49, with 4:08 to play. Bryanna Brady connected on a jumper before a 7-0 Campbell burst whittled the lead to two, 58-56, with 59 seconds to play. Both teams stayed off the scoresheet in the waning moments before Christina Kline forced a key turnover and, on the ensuing possession, connected with Brady to push PC to the 60-56 win. 
 
Players of the Game
- Neira led the Blue Hose on Saturday with 17 points as she connected on 6-of-11 field goals, including 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. She also tallied a team-high four assists in the victory. Sjökvist and Brady each finished with 10 points in the contest. Brady was 4-of-6 from the field and pulled down a team-high five rebounds. Sjökvist finished 4-of-6 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers. Christabel Ezumah led Campbell with 21 points going 10-of-15 shooting, and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Svenia Nurenberg tallied 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Brittany Staves finished with a team-best three assists. 

Stats of the Game
- Presbyterian posted a 50% (22-of-44) performance as the visitors shot 43.6% (24-of-55) on Saturday afternoon. PC connected on 10 threes compared to six from Campbell. The Blue Hose converted on 6-of-7 free throws, while the Fighting Camels were just 2-of-6 at the charity stripe. The two teams were even on the boards with 28 apiece. Presbyterian finished with 17 assists compared to 12 from the guests. Campbell outscored the Blue Hose in the paint by the score of 34-20 and a 10-6 edge in second-chance points. The guests had a slight edge with nine steals compared to six from the Blue Hose. 

Notables
- Neira tallied her 11th double-figure scoring performance on Saturday with her team-high 17 points. It marks the seventh time she's led PC in scoring this season. It's the sixth time in league play she's eclipsed 10 points. 
- The Blue Hose sophomore guard finished one off of her season-high in assists as she led the way for PC with four helpers. 
- Neira also matched her season-high for threes in a game with the five she converted.
- Brady added 10 points, including the finishing two that sealed Saturday's win over Campbell. She's reached double-figures in points on 11 occasions in Big South play.
- Sjökvist reached 10 points for the eighth time in league play on Saturday and the 11th time overall.
- PC improved to 7-1 on the season when making at least 10 threes as the Blue Hose converted on 10-of-18 threes in Saturday's victory. It's also the 10th victory this season when Presbyterian has converted more threes than its opponents. 
- It's the seventh time this season PC has won when distributing at least 15 assists in a game, as the Blue Hose totaled 17.
- PC broke a nine-game losing streak against Campbell on Saturday as the Blue Hose had not come out on the winning end against Campbell since January 13, 2018, when the Blue Hose won 65-59 in Clinton. 
- Presbyterian earned its ninth home win of the season, marking the most PC has recorded in a season since 2015-16 when the Blue Hose went 12-2 on their home court.
